One day, they enter the contest 'There Ought to Be a Law' hosted by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, who soon helps the students change the law in California encouraging teachers in public schools to teach about the Mexican Repatriation during the Great Depression.

How Emily and Eli Became Friends is a story about a boy named Eli and a new girl in his class named Emily who has autism. Eli finds Emily strange because of the things she does. After talking to his mother, Eli learns that Emily's autism is what causes her to do these things and he learns to look past them to become her friend.
