A Decent Truth is just that, a decent truth. A wonderful eye awakening non-fiction novel with some very powerful poetry throughout.From the Author - I wrote this book, because I found it necessary to help awaken the walking dead. Although this book is written to help the black unconscious mind become conscious, it applies to every one of every race. Even though things were said before my time, I found it necessary to remind those that had forgotten and fallen back asleep. I also wrote this, because I, myself, have children. This was put together for the welfare of all children, but also to help remind myself of where I've been and where I'm going.People today are so lost, that they're willing to accept anything, no matter how outrageous it may sound. So being that I was blessed with sound mind and knowledge while incarcerated, it became a must that I do my part for my dark nation. When a people have no self-knowledge, nor knowledge of their heritage, pride becomes non-existent. In order for one to grow, they must have the right tools to help them go the direction they want to, as well as should, be going. We must stop blaming others for our downfalls, why we are here or there, because ultimately we are destroying ourselves. I'm an ex-gang member, ex-drug dealer, ex-drug user, ex-low-level-pimp, etc.In 1990 at the age of 19 I went to prison for burglary with a sentence of 6 years. After the term I was released and married Veronica Totress of Carson, California. I have children by Shanda (Webb) Gwenn, Pamela Thomas and Correctional Counselor C Berry. 20 years of my life have been spent in prison. While incarcerated I studied and re-educated myself with the help of God. I was released from prison on May 24th 2011. I earned a BA Degree in Human Behavior / Psychology, which was taken back, because I didn't get my GED within the two years I was given by Coastline Community College.I now reside in the west side of Long Beach, CA in a sober living. I'm four months clean off drugs. I attend Deacon's class, bible study and church every Sunday. I occasionally teach Sunday school. I'm seeking to become an ordained minister. Ben Hunnicutt's planned 'together time' in Alaska with FBI Agent Liz Nichole is interrupted by her recall to Norfolk, Virginia to work a major dope smuggling case. The subtitle pretty much sums up what the book is about-it's a documented account of my conversion to the Christian faith, specifically to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To help establish the credibility of my story, I went back into my files and pulled out copies of letters and other media that I felt would convince any jury/reader that the old prodigal in me was no imposter. Similarly, I compiled a set of contrasting proofs to make the case that the "new creature" in me was neither a fake, nor a fluke. These two antipodal bodies of evidence are separated by a transformative religious experience. Admittedly, this is an unorthodox approach for telling a conversion story, but when reduced to its simplest terms, perhaps no more so than a pair of "before and after" photographs in a home renovation ad. I was born in Los Angeles in 1947. A mix of childhood memories of moving back and forth between the Arkansas Ozarks and the California Mojave Desert undoubtedly helped me to get good grades on my geography tests, but there's little else about those years to wax nostalgic about. A short stint in the Army in 1966-67 followed by a raging bull kind of charge into the post-'60s counterculture, and all that that implies, set the stage for a mental health crisis during the 70's. By then there was no question that the parable of the prodigal son was mine to reprise. Most likely I'd still be "wallowing with the swine" if I hadn't gotten sick and tired of hearing myself say I'm sick and tired of it...when I knew I wasn't. By hearing that confession while on my knees praying for the first time as a middle-aged man, the God of heaven and earth may have taken that as a cue to enter the picture. Because that's what happened "Big Time" on a starry November evening in 1981...the year in which I was born again. God created man as a spiritual being like Himself with the intention to live with them forever. Because of mankind's rebellion against God, they died spiritually but continued to live under the powerlessness of their soul--intellect, emotion, and will. Man's intellect gathers information from the senses of the body and processes it, his emotion decides what he desires to do, and his will carries out his soul's evil intent.Even though man was spiritually separated from God, He still desired to live among His people. His first dwelling place was a tent called the tabernacle, which was later replaced by the temple. Both shared three distinct parts: the courtyard, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies. God dwelt specifically above the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies.The tearing of the temple's curtain at Christ's death signified God's coming from behind the curtain to dwell in man, His new sacred temple. Man's soul forms the new Holy Place with its intellect, emotion, and will. These correspond to the lampstand, the altar of incense, and the table of showbread. Man's re-born spirit forms the new Holy of Holies with its intuition, conscience, and communion. These correspond to Aaron's staff, the two stone tablets, and the gold jar of manna, all of which Moses placed in the Ark. For the first time since the fall, man no longer has to live by the powerlessness of his soul. Because of Christ, God can indwell man. His presence enables them to be spiritual men and women who experience the power of His resurrection. The intent of The Tabernacle, The Temple, and You is to understand what we were, to identify where we are, and to grasp what God has called us to be.Ron joined the military at the age of seventeen with the hope of adventure. On the flight to boot camp, he heard God's voice: "Ron, are you going to live the rest of your life for yourself, or are you going to live for Me?" By the time the plane landed, Ron had made Christ both his Savior and Lord. During his time in the military, he was nicknamed "Reverend" because of the radical change in his attitude, behavior, and character. After an honorable discharge, Ron endeavored to serve his Lord Jesus Christ in instant, absolute obedience. Christians first recognized Ron's prophetic gift while he was working in the inner city. His heart was broken by the church's apathy to the poor and by their conformity to the world.
