Theatre for Development is one of the most dynamic and controversial theatre movements on the global South. Emerging in Southern Africa in the 1970s to address social and economic problems using theatrical techniques, today it is taught in theatre departments across sub-Saharan Africa and employed in numerous contexts from health care to agriculture. This book investigates the emergence of TfD from its beginnings to its transformation into a coherent organizational field capable of attracting significant governmental and NGO funding. Drawing on leading African scholars and practitioners the volume examines the complex transnational processes that led to the institutionalization of Theatre for Development. Christopher Balme is Professor of Theatre Studies and co-director of the Käte Hamburger research centre Global dis:connect at LMU Munich. He directed the ERC project 'Developing Theatre: Building Expert Networks for Theatre in Emerging Countries after 1945'. Abdul Karim Hakib is a lecturer at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ghana. He completed his PhD at LMU Munich. His research interests include Theatre for Development, intangible cultural heritage and performance, theatre and other media, and organizational politics and development.

In our psyche, kairos is firmly anchored. Research on the key concept kairos has opened the path for a solid assessment of an essential source in the realm of cultural history. The most significant connotation of kairos is experienced time as social construct and the energy flow released within the Self that makes kairos a navigator for an individual's self-identification. This self-identification reflects the synergetic interaction of the body, the senses and the mind and, in the search of the Self for social interconnectivity, kairos becomes a measure for the relationship in the sphere of the between-us. Experiencing cultural traditions and the connection with nature in the flow of time is the basis for making one's living-space meaningful, and this kind of experience is at the very core of the functioning of kairos.Discovering kairos as an organizing principle of the Self in the communal network of a civilization from the far-distant past - focusing on Old Europe (the Danube civilization, respectively) - may be compared with the discovery of a plant the nutritious value of which for everybody's diet and capacities for healing had been unknown and are secured by modern research results.

Diese Publikation geht auf ein Kolloquium zu Fortifikationsbauten in Westanatolien zurück, das im Herbst 2019 in Dalyan / Kaunos stattgefunden hat. Anlass waren eine erstmals systematisch durchgeführte Dokumentation und Analyse der kaunischen Befestigungsbauten, die einen wissenschaftlichen Austausch und eine neue Zusammenschau der jüngsten Forschungen an westanatolischen Fortifikationen lohnend erscheinen ließ.Der vorliegende Kolloquiumsband, der Beiträge zu Befestigungen in Kaunos, Knidos, Priene, Selçuk (Keçi Kalesi), Halikarnassos, Pedasa, Termera, Theangela, Alazeytin, Kaplandag, Kozan (Karasis) und Gadara (Umm Qays) enthält, möchte einen Beitrag zur Erweiterung des Kenntnisstandes dieser so wichtigen Bauten leisten.

The SDN architecture facilitates the flexible deployment of network functions. While promoting innovation, this architecture induces yet a higher chance of conflicts compared to conventional networks. The detection of conflicts in SDN is the focus of this work. Restrictions of the formal analytical approach drive our choice of an experimental approach, in which we determine a parameter space and a methodology to perform experiments. We have created a dataset covering a number of situations occurring in SDN. The investigation of the dataset yields a conflict taxonomy composed of various classes organized in three broad types: local, distributed and hidden conflicts. Interestingly, hidden conflicts caused by side-effects of control applications' behaviour are completely new. We introduce the new concept of multi-property set, and the ·r ("dot r") operator for the effective comparison of SDN rules. With these capable means, we present algorithms to detect conflicts and develop a conflict detection prototype. The evaluation of the prototype justifies the correctness and the realizability of our proposed concepts and methodologies for classifying as well as for detecting conflicts. Altogether, our work establishes a foundation for further conflict handling efforts in SDN, e.g., conflict resolution and avoidance. In addition, we point out challenges to be explored.

Rückblickend reicht die Geschichtsschreibung der Philosophie und des Denkens in koreanischer Sprache bis ins 8. Jahrhundert zurück. Die vorliegende Bibliographie bietet einen umfassenden Überblick über diese relativ lange Zeitspanne mit komplexen Entwicklungen. Anhand thematischer und regionaler Kategorien wird versucht, die gesamte Landschaft der koreanischen Philosophie- und Geistesgeschichte aufzuzeigen. Der einleitende Text bietet eine chronologische Rekonstruktion der Geschichte der philosophischen Geschichtsschreibung in Korea und schließt die Lücke zwischen den vormodernen und modernen Diskursen. Er konzentriert sich hauptsächlich auf zwei Aspekte: 1) Die moderne Transformation der traditionellen koreanischen historiographischen Kenntnisse und Methoden, die von konfuzianischen und buddhistischen Gelehrten entwickelt und kultiviert wurden. 2) Die Diversifizierung der philosophischen Geschichtsschreibung nach diesem Prozess der Globalisierung und der methodischen Transformation, die zu einer eigenen Darstellung der Weltgeschichte der Philosophie führt. Der Fall Korea ist besonders interessant, weil es trotz drastisch wechselnder hegemonialer Konstellationen seine eigenen Versionen der Geschichte hervorgebracht hat. Es ist ein hervorragendes Beispiel für eine alternative Geschichte der Philosophie, die an der Peripherie der eurozentrischen und sinozentrischen Ordnung geschrieben wurde.

Dieses Buch vergleicht Solidarität in der Ubuntu-Philosophie mit Solidarität in Axel Honneths "Kampf um Anerkennung" und bietet damit einen interkulturellen Beitrag zur Lösung ethnischer und religiöser Konflikte in Nigeria.

With this book, we are entering an area of public controversy: the field of museums. The focus is on a topic that is equally the subject of much critical reflection in the academic arena: religious things and how they are handled in museums.Museums are receiving currently a lot of public attention with regard to the material objects they host, and the historical and contemporary handling of these objects. There are global public debates about the origins, paths, and futures of museum things. Since at least 2018, with the report on the restitution of African cultural heritage, which Felwine Sarr and Bénédicte Savoy presented to the French president, the legitimacy of objects from colonial contexts in museums and collections in the global north has been widely debated. Furthermore, disciplines within cultural studies, including the study of religions, have taken a material turn, and now focus on the material, and thus also on museum things. This has brought the material dimension of religion into the focus of research in various disciplines. Studying materiality can thus open a pathway for potential critique of established patterns in research, historiography, and society, widening our perspective.
