I have written many books which feature original art and original short stories-but after a pancreatic cancer scare (fortunately misdiagnosed), my son Stott suggested this as a topic for a book. My dear sister, Mary Ellen, advised me she didn't want to hear "death" in the title, hence the clever tease. It's apt. Actually some of the stories are hopeful, even funny. Some do deal with final days. Others address renewal. But what I discovered in this exercise is that nothing is more important. Life should not be about shopping sprees, escapism, and goofball sitcoms. So I did it and a day before my chemotherapy, my esteemed doctor declared, "it's not cancer."After 30 years as an international advertising director, John decided to "reinvent" himself as an artist and writer. His artwork has been exhibited throughout the United States, Europe (Italy, the U.K., Germany, France, Ireland) and Asia (Japan, Thailand). Fortunately, has had more than a dozen solo shows.Along the way, he has written 25 books- many novels, many art and short story books (4), art and poetry (4), several children's books, novellas, and memoirs.

This book is based on factual events that the author has experienced and his knowledge of African American culture.A God-Fearing, cantankerous elderly woman is asked to undergo a traditional, daunting summer task. Her responsibilities included the 'watchdog effort,' and the use of any means necessary to discipline and teach her grandchildren, great-nieces; and great-nephews how to live a Christian way of life.Their ages range from 10-17, and the desire, reluctance, and necessity for them to remain in her house depends on one major stipulation; they all must attend church services with her every SundayThis novel is a collection of diverse, raw, entertaining and humorous stories about family fun, adventure and the experiences that take place in an urban community in Cincinnati, Ohio. One of the natural outcome in life is that every generation of adolescents encounters their share of trials, tribulations and temptations while growing up. In many cases they are unavoidable, sometimes unpredictable, and sometimes unbelievable. The essence of this book touches on every facet of these experiences.

The author suffered from repeated depressions after his ordination to the Catholic priesthood. The depression once for all ceased after his sacramental marriage. The reactions to this marriage from the hierarchy, who stuck to tradition, could hardly be other than negative, although no-one could refute the arguments of the author. Nevertheless he was not officially readmitted to the Catholic priesthood, even if some Catholic communities welcome his service on a regular basis.

Assault on a Culture by Charles E. Adams Jr. unravels the Anishinaabe culture and the forces and processes of environmental and anthropogenic origin that have caused the culture to evolve since the Indians first arrived on the continent approximately 12,000 years before the present (BP). This book examines a specific Indian culture that tells a story that is not well-known by members of the dominant society and even by many Anishinaabeg and it is told by an Anishinaabe descendent who has first-hand knowledge of the culture.Anishinaabe ancestors first arrived in North America approximately 12,000 years ago when a thick sheet of ice covered much of the northern portion of the continent. The provenance in Asia of those peoples implies that the pathway taken to get to their Great Lakes home was long and arduous, severely testing the strength and resolve of those first Americans. For much of their tenure on the continent, the Anishinaabeg occupied a distinct, delicately balanced, socio-cultural niche that evolved primarily as responses to changes of the natural environment. Following first contact with European explorers about 500 years ago, European-Indian social and economic interactions including intermarriage, adoption of European trade goods, and loss of a life-sustaining and culture defining land base became dominant forces in Anishinaabe (Chippewa, Ottawa, and Potawatomi) culture change. The benevolent co-existence of the French, through the aggressive colonialism of the British, to the vigorous thrust by the United States to extinguish all Anishinaabe land title under the rubric of Manifest Destiny comprise the central focus of Assault on a Culture. By 1880, formal treaties between the United States and the Anishinaabeg, crafted entirely by the Americans to favor their own land-accumulating interests, led to the creation of an Indian population with little or no land to call their own and minimal talents that would be needed to survive without the land. While the various activities undertaken by the Euro-Americans put the Anishinaabe culture in extreme crisis, it was not destroyed. Today, it thrives and strives to adapt to the ever changing demands of modern society, a clear indication of the strength and resolve of those indomitable people.Native American tribes are beginning to take their rightful places in the American social and economic mainstream and the hurdles that they have overcome to get to this point is interesting and inspiring. Assault on a Culture aims to provide readers with a better understanding of the history of the Anishinaabeg of the Great Lakes and their incredible social, economic, and cultural accomplishments in the face of an unrelenting assault to prevent them from succeeding.

"You are hereby banished from the North American continent. Should you reenter it, you will be executed upon recognition. Within this facility, you have the right to life and to defend that life, unto your death." These are the last words spoken to the exiles banished to the Square, a massive penal colony encompassing the western triangle of what was once the state of Texas. Paxton Stephens, a disgraced and exiled scientist, gave the authoritarian Republic the wherewithal to harness antigravity, but wasn't smart enough to keep his mouth shut about its human rights abuses. He has created a small oasis for himself and a dozen other misfits on a makeshift farm near the center of the Square, under the tenuous protection of a former ranching family, far from the cannibal tribes which usually kept within sight of the Wall. The fragile balance of life and death on the farm is upset on Intake Day, when they collect a mysterious young woman who seems to have supernatural abilities. Paxton becomes convinced that Eden is the next Messiah and now his rag-tag posse must break her out of the Square so that she can save humanity from impending environmental and societal collapse.

This book commences by painting an image of Africa. We get introduced to physical features, the endowments, and go on to provide a brief historical perspective of Africa, showing how Africa served as the first home of the human species. The book then takes us through another epoch of Africa's self-consciousness (Pan-Africanism) in the middle of the 20th century: the time when Africa had been greatly subjected to imperialism and colonialism, which plunged it into great destitution. To say the least, this book is a statement of hope for Africa. Besides the historical accounts, the book takes time to underline the facts that mankind's life has a beginning and an end. In between the two ends, there are thousands of ups and downs. Today Africa is working hard to emancipate itself socially, economically, politically, culturally, and psychologically.According to the Author, these are not daydreams; they are visions conceived in very clear minds, conscious of the fact that the past should be left to the past and now the focus should be on what lies ahead. Africa is ambitious to get to the envisioned "world economic level of emancipation i.e. to its 'New-Canaan.'" No doubt, it can be done, and Africa wishes to do it because it has the will, the Vision, natural and human resources potential and enough reserved energy to get there sooner rather than later. This book illustrates the origins of the continent, its current location, and where its destination is envisaged to be.
