The debut poetry book from Matthew Tognarelli is a journey through the urban hedge into mother nature's world. Urban Hedge is for everyone who has ever went for a stroll. It is a walk from a small town out into the open expanse. A place where you are free to explore your thoughts and where nature survives, thrives and guides you through the static of modern life and provides clarity in her presence.
Set in 1947 The Case of the Grease Monkey's Uncle tells the story of James Arbuthnott and Archibald Cluff, two recently demobbed soldiers and their first case for the Arbuthnott and Cluff Detective Agency. An unlikely pairing, James was the taller of the two, with wavy fair hair and a moustache to match, very much the Officer and Gentleman and although of Scottish descent he had no trace of an accent, educated at Eton he had that distinguished confident air that immediately says, good breeding whilst his colleague was shorter and an altogether rougher diamond with ginger hair, from the East End of London, it would be true to say that one was tall and good looking whilst the other was not so lucky in the looks department and was built like a brick out house. Their first case involves the mysterious disappearance of the Uncle of William Trubshaw and involves, criminality, murder, intrigue, heroism and occasionally downright stupidity.
From their roots in Dumfriesshire to Glasgow, Liverpool, London and South America, the McCalls have demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt to the changing political and economic environment. Over a period of 270 years, they have responded to business opportunities and taken financial risks. They have enjoyed success and wealth as well as business failure and the need to seek pastures new. This book records the rollercoaster story of their business and personal life, describing how they reacted to these changes.

This book is designed to help those learning and teaching Computer Science. The aim of the book is to help students build fluency in their Python programming. The book would suit students who have already been introduced to the three basic programming constructs of structured programming, namely sequence, selection and iteration. The learning curve for programming can be quite steep and this book aims to ease this transition by encouraging practise and gradually introducing more complex concepts such as lists and 2D lists, file writing and using procedures and functions. Originally, the book was written for my 14-16 year old students studying for their GCSE Computer Science programming exam. However, I hope a wide range of students and teachers will find this book useful.
Meet DI Harry Hawkins. 'H' to friends and enemies alike. He's not an easy man to love. But when the chips are down he's the man you want on your side, the man who'll get you justice. Whatever it takes. Sharp and Short tracks him through a series of the defining moments that made him who he is. By turns intense, tragic and comic the six stories span 40 years and see H maturing in a world full of both love and violence. Can he save a friend from the clutches of an IRA death squad? Escape with his life after meting out rough justice to a gangland boss? Survive a battle with the demon drink as the mounting evil he faces threatens to crush him? These stories, and more, are an absolute must for anyone who likes a cracking good yarn or has an interest in the development of a flawed but heroic character, a man who will do whatever it takes to do some good in our dark world.
Some people are naturally generous. For the rest of us in this increasingly individualistic, selfish society, generosity seems like a worthy but impractical aspiration. Generosity is a skill that can be practiced and learned. This book shows you how to do it through: REAL-LIFE EXAMPLES; RELEVANT BIBLE PASSAGES and PRACTICAL ACTION POINTS. St. Paul encouraged everyone to "be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God" (2 CORINTHIANS 9:11 NIV). These 31 bite-size devotions, plus 5 reflections for special occasions, take you on a journey of generosity. They are suitable for personal study, small groups, and church worship services."These talks are filled with insight, wisdom, and life perspectives, accompanied by a touch of gentle humor." Dr. Edmund Janzen, former President of Fresno Pacific University
