Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad laid down thefoundation of the world-wide Ahmadiyya Community in asmall village of Qadian in accordance with the propheciesof Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) which now, by the Graceof God has spread all over the world. People of all ages,colour, race and language have entered in its fold and thisprocess continues unabated. In short pious souls of all thecontinents of the world are embracing Ahmadiyyat, or trueIslam.It occurred to my mind in this universalback-ground that the book "Meanings of the difficultwords of the Holy Qur`an" written by Maulana BashirAhmad Qamar, a scholar of Ahmadiyya communityshould be translated into English, along with its Urduversion, so that it may become intelligible and useful forthe people who are associated with English & Urdulanguages.Subsequently, I translated the first para of the HolyQuran into English and sent the same to Hazoor-a-Anwarfor receiving the blessings. Hazoor-a-Anwar very kindlyand graciously expressed his views in the followingauspicious words.

It is an obvious fact that the great merit of anything lies in itsfulfilling the purpose for which it has been made. Therefore, thetrue purpose of a Heavenly Scripture is that it should save thosethat follow it from a sinful life through its teaching and influence;its power of reform and spiritual qualities. The Holy Qur'an hasall these traits, and is far exalted than all previous Holy Scriptures.The Qur'an is a miracle of limitless insights and eternal truthsvouchsafed to our Holy Prophetsa, over fourteen hundred yearsago. Over the course of time people have come to attribute arbitrarymeanings to the Word of God to suit their own ends, resultingin the opponents of Islam to question its authenticity andteachings. Most of these misinterpretations have crept in becauseof our failure to fully understand the message of the Qur'an.The Promised Messiahas was commissioned not only to expound thebeauties of Islam but also to adjudicate and correct the distortions andfabrications that had been introduced into Islam during the course ofthe centuries. The names of other Prophets andMessengers are followed by the symbol as, an abbreviation for( / ) 'Alaihissalam / 'Alaihimussalam (on whom be peace).The actual salutations have not generally been set out in full, butthey should nevertheless, be understood as being repeated in full ineach case. The symbol ra is used with the name of the Companionsof the Holy Prophetsa and those of the Promised Messiahas. It standsfor ( / / ) Radiyallahu 'anhu/'anha/'anhum (May Allah bepleased with him/with her/with them). rh stands for ( )Rahimahullahu Ta'ala (may Allah's blessing be on him). aa standsfor ( ) Ayyadahullahu Ta'ala (May Allah be his Helper).In transliterating Arabic words we have followed the followingsystem adopted by the Royal Asiatic Society.
