Six months following the conclusion of "Nemesis: Reign of Darkness Volume I" a new vampire power rises from ancient history and takes control of the vampire leadership, pushing forward and changing the agenda previously begun. The DSA task force continues their struggle to oppose the vampires and end the threat of their takeover of both the United States and the world. As the Nemesis, Alex Chance, grows stronger and more capable, he finds more allies and a contingent of survivors, feline lycanthropes, and others to assist in their efforts. They see an end in sight, but the ending is anything but what they envisioned.
The Master vampire has been destroyed, taking with him the power to lead and control the vampire population, or so the members of the Domestic Security Agency task force dedicated to destroying vampires believed. Until rumors of a trio of vampires claim to have received the power of the Master before his destruction. Alex Chance, leader of the task force's insertion team, the combat unit, has left the unit, prepared to live out his life without the constant threat of vampires. However, when his high school girlfriend, a woman he hasn't been in contact with for more than fifteen years, is attacked by one of the new Masters, he is called back to duty and takes the team to his hometown of Pine Ridge, Mississippi to findo out the truth. He learns quickly that the trio, calling themselves "The Virate," has acquired a book containing the writings of an ancient Master detailing a plan for the vampire conquest of the world. It becomes the mission of Alex Chance, known to the vampires as "The Nemesis," to find and stop them before they can claim an ancient power that will give them greater control over the vampire population and a unity that will bring about the downfall of humanity.
A story is like a song. A song tells a story. Sometimes, the song inspires a somewhat different story. This collection contains twenty-one stories ranging in genre from the supernatural and horror to science fiction and fantasy. These were all loosely inspired by the music of some favorite artists and some nostalgic tunes. The titles are close, but they aren't connected to the songs or the artists. It's just sort of my written tribute to the songs that made a difference in my life. These artists include: Kansas, Rush, Night Ranger, Honeymoon Suite, the Doobie Brothers, Def Leppard, Heart, Pete Townshend, Pat Metheny, Supertramp, The Knack, Yes, Paul Simon, and the Electric Light Orchestra. There are some repititions, but those artists keep repeating in my life. All I can do is share what they mean to me.
Immediately following the events of "Aeolian's Quest Book I," Aeolian has reunited with Jag, the father of her children, but he has no memory of his past other than his name. She then begins the second part of her quest to confront and oppose the reign of the Sorceress, the ruler of Tellusia, a realm inaccessible to the citizens of Atherra for centuries. Those having supported her are scattered and she brings them back together for a final showdown with the Sorceress after facing the Three Pretenders, ancient beings called forth by the Sorceress to sow the seeds of chaos across Tellusia and to begin her infiltration and eventual takeover of Atherra. Aeolian also travels, after meeting the Builder, a man from another dimension with strange technology at his disposal, in an attempt to regain the power she's lost and restore the memory of her betrothed, Jag.
Jason Garrett is a writer, living his ideal life in a remote cabin outside a small town in Colorado. His life is fine, if a little boring. A sudden storm hits the area and brings with it the arrival of the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. Her name is Aeolian and she is from the world of Atherra, chosen heir to the throne, and is being pursued by a group attempting to kill her so the man that had her father killed can retain his claim to the throne. She asks for Jason's help and he guides her through the world to reunite her with her group of protectors, defeat those pursuing her, and return home to continue her quest to unseat the usurper king.
