My mom was beautiful and a loving caregiver. My dad even took me mountain climbing when I was little girl. I regretted it as soon as we started. It was both frightening and exciting. My life was set up to prosper me and set me in places that would propel me to greatness, but cracks started to form.My mom never changed. Her love for my sisters and me was all encompassing. But even her love couldn't keep the cracks from forming. It's something how little by little one crack at a time, your life falls apart. It started with my parents and trickled down to me. One crack at a time. My dad went from military to, City Housing Inspector, into a man who I "thought" hated me. Drugs hit my life in every direction, my father, who became an addict, the men I chose to love, who were dealers. One blow at a time, one crack turned into a rippling effect. In between these blows there were many successes, there were some happy times, the birth of my children, becoming a business owner and owning my own daycare. I traveled, I partied, I loved, and I cried. I survived abuse in all of its forms, the homicidal death of my sister, and seeing a person I loved shoot themselves right in front of my face. God spared me for a reason. I Survived!

Through her poems, the author attempts to give a more positive view of Mississippi and the South, rather than all the negatives usually portrayed.In 2015, Patricia received a proclamation in her honor from Governor Phil Bryant declaring her as an Official Goodwill Ambassador for the state. Her slogan is "Always, Always Celebrating the South and Promoting a Positive Mississippi." Her poem "Meet My Mississippi " was submitted for consideration as the official state poem in the 2016, 2017, and 2018 legislative sessions. Several of Patricia's Mississippi poems are included on t-shirts of the Southern Belle T-shirt Company line in her continuing efforts to Promote a Positive Mississippi. Patricia currently lives in Tupelo with her husband James. They have one son, James Henry.Brenda Ragsdale is a self- taught freelance artist who lives in Guntown, Mississippi. Brenda attended Guntown Elementary School and Guntown Middle School. She is a graduate of Saltillo High School. She is married to Jeff Ragsdale. They have two sons, three daughters and fourteen grandchildren. The artist states, "This book was my first time using the medium of watercolors. My name is Henrietta Bowen, and a COVID-19 survivor. It is my desire that you enjoy this comfortable read which is long overdue, how the Almighty God miraculously rescued me from the clutches of COVID-19 in the year 2021.I had no recollection of what transpired while I was a patient in the hospital for 19 days, but the medical team suggested that I go directly from the hospital to a nursing home facility equipped to provide physical therapy to complete my treatment and recovery. One thing I remembered when I left the nursing home facility was that I had a burning desire to inform everyone about the goodness of God and to further stressed that God is Real, based on all my experiences as you read: "The Deep Settled Peace... after forgiveness."
