What I want readers to take from this book is for the youth to get back to the joy of reading and the effect reading has on your life. When you read you acquire knowledge, and it is stored in your memory bank to be recalled again when needed. It is a gift from God. There is no other gift like it. You don't have to be an introvert. We have been shut in on account of COVID19, which causes some depression. You don't have to stay depressed. Reading can change your thinking and turn your negative thoughts into positive ones. The most read book in the world is the Holy Bible. It's the number in sales. When you read your Bible, you learn more about who God really is. He loves us. Who else would send their son to die on the cross for the sins of the world? He loves us unconditionally. Read your Bible.

Healing brings us spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental wholeness. Hurt and trauma cause us to be tired, the chaos is physically draining and mentally exhaustive, and suppressing those feelings may drive to a breaking point. God gives us a better way to handle grief and pain. His ways shape us to be the people he ordained us to be, according to his purpose and will for your life. He has a plan for us all. I want to help you reach your fullest potential. I am not a grief counselor or a licensed therapist, but I am an overcomer. My desire is to help people receive strength and encouragement to finish their journey. Inside these pages you will be given proven steps to help you through your healing process. You'll be asked to think, and describe your way to healing and newness of life.

You were born! And that is the greatest accomplishment you can have. Sometimes the circumstances that surround our birth makes us feel as if we shouldn't be here. Guess what? You're absolutely supposed to be here! You are on a divine assignment. You are predestined to life on God's green earth! So, let get to living!

Looking back at my life, one thing stands out, the struggle. Learning how to make do with a little of nothing and be thankful for the crumbs from others table was hard. I grew up in a harsh environment. There was physical, mental, and sexual abuse. This type of environment teaches you to use the most primal survival skills. I remember watching mom get up at three o'clock in the morning everyday to walk to work. She worked at the Columbus city courthouse. No matter the weather she was always there. Every day like clockwork she was there regardless of the weather getting it in. I remember seeing her wrap her hands in old socks to stay warm. Her shoes were running over from walking so many miles. I didn't understand at first, but time and error have shown me that she did what she knew to do for her children. It was her way of showing us she loved us the only way she knew how. I ended up doing the same thing for my children, following in her footsteps. Just like we took mom for granted my children did the same to me, take me for granted. I worked to provide a better life than I was able to afford as a child. My mom showed me that having children was a full-time job that you wanted to do, because the reward was priceless. The heartache and pain of a childbirth was only a prelude of what was to come, yet it's more than worth the indescribable joy and pride. When you can see how well they turn out. July twenty-fifth nineteen eighty, I found a reason to live and to strive. His name is Alandrew Ed Rodrick Jones, He was five ponds and three ounces, red wrinkled and squirming. The true beginning of my adult journey. I wasn't alone anymore. I had someone to love me.

As we go through this life on earth, we are faced with many challenges of hardships, difficulties, and even persecution. There are many other struggles and battles, which we often go through; that are more intense, even more painful, and severe. These battles are often faced on the inside; they are the ones that take place in our hearts. Most of the time no one seems to know or care to know. We can't share them with just anyone, so we fight alone, lonely, desperate, and frightened. We wait endlessly for God to intervene on our behalf. That answer seems to be so far away. Most times we already know that the outcome of most battles will be determined on how we handle the situation. I have been broken for a purpose!

My beautiful mother, Alice Thompson, published a series of poetry throughout her life under her pen name Olivia Dupree. Her books include "A Journey of the Heart" and "Inspirations of the Heart". Her writing is beautiful and full of meaning. My mother, Alice, is alive and well, and republishing her work is my way of keeping her legacy here well after she has gone own to bless heaven with her presence. It is her flowers before her while she lives.
