"This book is the Spanish translation of "A Field Guide on False Teaching" (Ligonier Ministries, LCCN: 2020934593. The first part to this booklet sets out all that is involved in the task of apologetics by first defining essential Christian beliefs. It calls Christians to engage with falsehood through the clear teaching of Scripture that we are to defend, contend, and proclaim the faith once delivered to all the saints. This first part also serves as an introduction to the booklet as a whole. The second part of this booklet presents the fundamental beliefs of Christian sects, Christian cults, and world religions. Each section covering a specific false teaching overviews the history, major beliefs, major differences with orthodox Christianity, and prompts for Christian engagement. Within the category of false teaching that strays from the historic Christian faith, this booklet focuses on the prosperity gospel, deism, and legalism and antinomianism. Many of these movements, while they may affirm essentials of the Christian faith, obscure the clarity of the gospel of Jesus Christ, deny aspects of God's involvement in the world, and jeopardize the lives of the people who act on these false beliefs. Within the category of Christian cults that pervert and overturn basic Christian doctrines, this booklet focuses on Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormonism, and Christian Science. These movements are labeled cults because their denial of such doctrines as the Trinity entirely removes them from the historic Christian tradition. While they use much of the same language of Christianity, they cannot be properly called Christian. Within the category of world religions and worldviews that deny and compete with the truth claims of Christianity, this booklet focuses on Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, spiritualism and the new age movement, and atheism and secularism. While the existence of world religions points to the reality that all people were created to worship, they pose a threat to the basic truth that no one can be saved apart from the grace of God in Jesus Christ. Worldviews that deny the existence of God need to be exposed for subverting and suppressing the truth of God's revelation in creation of His existence and divine power. Especially as we consider the growth of secularism and Islam, it is vital that Christians know what others believe in order to engage with them in a winsome, intelligent, and sincere manner. The final part of this booklet encourages Christians with the truth that it is God who changes hearts so that they might be confident in sharing their faith. This last section is important because this booklet aims to highlight the vast differences between the historic Christian faith and all forms of false teaching. The gulf that separates Christianity from these aberrant beliefs is so daunting that without the truth that God changes hearts the task that Christians are called to would seem hopeless. The truth that God alone changes hearts prompts us to rely on the Holy Spirit in patience and prayer as we share the good news of Jesus Christ with all people"--

Recognizing error and responding with the truth. How do you know if someone is telling the truth about God? And how should you respond if they are not? Every Christian is responsible for knowing God's Word and sharing it with others. But in a world affected by sin, false teaching is everywhere. Many people obscure, distort, or challenge what God has revealed in Scripture -- even some leaders in the church. To be better prepared as witnesses for Christ, we must identify falsehood and the devastating harm it brings. By surveying prominent theological errors, cults, and world religions, this book can equip you to defend your faith against the dangers of false teaching. It can also help you more effectively respond to your friends, family, and neighbors with the hope you have in Christ. - Back cover.

It was from prison that Paul wrote, "Rejoice in the Lord always." Addressing a church troubled by division and false teaching, the Apostle called anxious Christians to share in his vibrant joy. What was Paul's secret? How did he maintain such peace of mind when the threat of execution loomed? The book of Philippians presents the key to having joy that even our darkest trials cannot steal away: knowing Christ. In this teaching series, Dr. Steven Lawson takes a thorough look at Paul's letter of joy. Set out on this verse-by-verse journey to discover how the joy of the Lord enables Christians to live faithfully for the gospel in every circumstance.

After laying the foundations, he walks through the elements of worship, including the centrality of the Word, prayer, the offering, the confession of the faith, music, the sacraments, and the benediction"--

"Christians often misunderstand the nature of God. This leads to misunderstandings about the nature of salvation. For this reason, the question "Saved from what?" can be a challenge to answer. In this book, Dr. R.C. Sproul explains why the atonement was necessary and why we are fundamentally saved from a holy God in salvation. The heart of this book is to help evangelicals understand the gospel. But in order to do that, they must first understand the character of God. When this happens, Christians understand that salvation is both of and from God. It is of God because it originates with Him. But it is from God because His righteous, holy character is against all unrighteousness. In part one, Dr. Sproul explains the meaning of the term "salvation" in Scripture, and he elaborates on this to show how God's character demands perfect righteousness. This is a serious predicament for every human being because all of our works fall short of the glory of God. We sin, and even our "good" works are mingled with sin. In part two, Dr. Sproul unfolds the significance and necessity of the cross, and he defines sin in the biblical concepts of "debt" to God, "enmity" toward God, and "crime" against God. The cross addresses the problem of our sin before God from every angle. Dr. Sproul explains how Christ is our ransom and the processes of propitiation and expiation that occurred at the cross. This entire section is set within the concept of covenant theology and is further developed through a study on justification. In part three, Dr. Sproul concludes the book by explaining the purpose of our salvation. All Christians are called to live for Christ and are adopted into Him. Being adopted into Christ, we are assured that God is making us like Him and that we will one day ultimately be made pure when we behold God in the beatific vision"--

"In Stand Firm, John MacArthur resounds the Christian's call to holiness. He does this by outlining some of the dimensions of the Christian life, especially as it relates to living in a post-Christian era. First, he addresses the importance of having and maintaining a Christian conscience. Second, he talks about the importance of the Christian to not only his neighbor but also to love his enemy, and this is largely done through a focus on the teaching of Deuteronomy and on the teaching of Jesus Christ in Matthew 5. Third, he further elaborates on the nature of the Christian love and the fact that it often mean loving in a sacrificial way that can require suffering. Fourth, he asserts the necessity of prayer in the Christian life and also elaborates on the true substance of Christian prayer. Fifth, he corrects any false notion that Christian faith is meant to garner influence in culture. He calls this the "myth of influence." Finally, he drives home the importance of persevering to the end of this life as a distinguishing mark of the Christian life, underscoring the title of the book, Stand Firm"--

"How can we persevere through persecution? First-century Christians wrestled with this question. They were often harassed, slandered, beaten, and ostracized for their faith. As they endured these difficult circumstances, we can imagine their joy upon receiving two encouraging letters from the Apostle Peter. No stranger to suffering, Peter likely penned these letters while in a Roman prison just before his martyrdom. In this volume, Dr. R.C. Sproul takes us through Peter's epistles line by line. As we lift our eyes from present suffering to our eternal inheritance in Christ, we find the strength to stand firm, endure trials, and rejoice in Him"--Jacket back.

Life is not easy. Its many trials often leave us wondering how we can press on in a fallen world. When we receive fresh wounds before old ones heal, we often are tempted to despair. We share this experience with the ancient people of God, and we can also share in the profound comfort God offered them. In the final chapters of Isaiah, the prophet presents a significant set of encouragements for the people of God as they journey through a world filled with trials and sorrow.

Understanding the doctrines of grace provides a clearer picture of God's sovereignty, mercy, and majesty. From the lawgiver Moses to the Apostle John, and from the early church fathers to modern defenders of the faith, there has marched onto the stage of human history a long line of godly men, a triumphant parade of spiritual stalwarts who have upheld the doctrines of grace. In this book, Dr. Steven J. Lawson takes readers on a heart-stirring survey of Scripture and its teaching on God's way of salvation. From Genesis to Revelation, the Word of God declares the message of God's sovereign grace in salvation.
