She began working as a Keypunch Operator that Fall at FortBenjamin Harrison Army Finance Center. 1977 she began asmembership Secretary/Receptionist at her church, Light of theWorld CC (D of C) and performing with the Repertory Theaterat Christian Theological Seminary. In 1979 she assumed theposition of Offi ce Manager. 1981 she with family moved toNashville, TN to pastor the Alameda Christian Church. 1983she was called to the Disciples of Christ Historical Society asSecretary/Receptionist. 1985 she was moved to the positionof Assistant Librarian. Dr. David Ian McWhirter, Archivisttrained her. In 1985 she served as Director of Worship onthe Regional Cabinet of Disciples Women. May has a lovelylyric soprano voice. Through the years in Nashville May gaveseveral concerts. She sang for more regional assemblies thananyone in the history of that region. May has been Poet inResidence for OldTimers’ GrapeVine since 2002. She hasspoken and made videos for the National Convocation ofthe Christian Church and the General Assembly also. Sheopened the 2016 Biennial Assembly with the fi rst segment ofthe theme “HINDSIGHT–INSIGHT–FORESIGHT.” Sheis a Toastmaster with 2 Communication Awards. One son,Norman LaMont Reed, Esq. May has been writing since 1958.She and Dr. Norman Reed CELEBRATED 52 precious yearsof togetherness July 2, 2018.
