"Rob's poems stay with you long after you have read them. His words are lyrical, pithy and poignant, reflecting on life with themes of celebration, loss, quirkiness, disappointment and joy. A highly recommended read." MAGGIE FOGARTY, JOURNALIST AND AUTHOR."Kersley's words are a joy to read as he walks you through his life between Wales, Cornwall and Portugal with a poetic eye. He sees things that many might fail to notice. You come away from his work taking him with you and also get a sense of his social conscience. Really beautiful."D'ARTAGNAN ARBUAH, SINGER/SONGWRITER."A stunning documentation. This is a strikingly poignant and captivatingly moving collection of both personal and topical poems, as Rob Kersley seeks to make sense of his inner and outer worlds."JOSIE MUIRHEAD, ARTS CENTRE EDUCATION MANAGER."Rob's way with words and poetry is one on its own. He can stir things in your mind with simple statements that ring so true and project thoughts in ways you never thought possible. Rob's work is to be read and pondered and enjoyed. Excellent."LIBBY PENTREATH, SINGER/SONGWRITER/POET.

The ruggedly beautiful ocean shoreline of Cornwall and the Penzance area have provided a backdrop that has inspired his poetic musings for many years and, more recently, another of his artistic hobbies, photography. His poems range in motif from the especially serious subject of the spiritual world all the way to a satirical sense of humour expressing thoughts about the absurdities of life. As I think of Robert Frost to be the "American Poet" whose poetry touches on ideas to which all humans can relate, so I think of Res as being the "English Poet" whose poems are wide ranging and express ideas to which all humans can relate. Res is truly the gentlemanly, pirate, Poet of Penzance.
Jeremy James Loveday a resident of Penzance, Cornwall living with Schizophrenia and under medical supervision struggles to keep his normalness through everyday challenges that finding a happy medium does. As those living in Penzance, Penwith know, cost of living is high and second and third jobs are needed to live a life. Being schizophrenic it is hard to have a job and the money is spent before it comes to hand. Jeremy with his survival instinct took to the streets creating and selling his artwork. Like others on the street, first instinct would be he is dishevelled and begging for money, but he wasn't asking for money, he was selling his artwork. Photocopies of his artwork.
These poems are all about people! What they get up to and what they may think. Some who's minds have gone on the blink. There is lots about loveand some about loss.People who haven't alwaysbeen true to themselves, some feeling left on the shelf. Some will make you laugh, for some you may shed a tear.Just a minute! We are thinking about real life here!So take a peak or two. Then take me home with you!
This is Rob's first book that open the door to his life and experiences, growing up in Wales. He captures his life and sum's it up in the title, "Time and Tide". When you experience near death, all that you have is what remains of time, and reflect the occurrences that come and go like the tide, transparent like water in everyone's life.
Res Burman is what I call a "Vast" person. He is a person who in his personality, his interests, his experiences, his perceptions, and his talents takes in much of this world in which we live. He has a deep understanding of the human condition combined with the ability to express his understanding with a clear, compassionate, poetic language to which we all can relate. Res has worked in various professions which include two that might seem poles apart. He was a soldier overseas for a number of years in Her Majesty's service. His interest in and curiosity about the places where he served combined with his natural compassion led him to not only take great interest in the cultures but also to get to know, understand, and care for the people. These experiences made Res a man of the Eastern World as well as a man of the Western World. This gives his poetry its distinctive flavor.Res has also worked in the profession of animal husbandry. He has a wide ranging knowledge, understanding, and love of animals, both domesticated and wild. The subject of his poetry often deals with mankind's relationship with animals and our inner-dependence with them. His poetic images often express the human need for a relationship with the animal kingdom and all of nature, emphasizing the importance of an appreciation of the beauty and power of the natural world which so often has a spiritual nature.Res has lived a life that has combined both the spiritual as well as the practical. Working as a carpenter he has been able to bring together his craftsmanship with his artistic perceptions as a cabinet maker. The ruggedly beautiful ocean shoreline of Cornwall and the Penzance area have provided a backdrop that has inspired his poetic musings for many years and, more recently, another of his artistic hobbies, photography. Tyrone Warren was born in Dublin Ireland to an Irish Mother & West Indian Father & sailed off at the age of 8 to London (England) for a better life. A Catholic upbringing raised & schooled him until 17 when he left home with a burning curiosity.Where his time was spent working various jobs & hustles ranging from organising illegal raves, on site graveyard security to running the distribution arm of a well respected independent dance label (Good Looking records).Falling into addiction & resulting in the inevitable to then pulling a 360' in turning his life around."It has been hard work starting from scratch again and I feel gratitude to have had the chance, like God heard my heart. With the encouragement of friends I put it out there and was blessed in having 3 poems published in 'Book of Lived' Vol:8 (Penny Authors)."
Roger Lowry a Penzance resident, boat owner and a painter. He puts both passion this books, his love of boats and his love of painting them. Roger has amassed numbers of boats in his paintings that have come and gone. Roger has inadvertently captured and recorded a body of work that is a national and local treasure, cataloguing the heritage of Penzance, Penwith, Cornwall; through his painting and art style which are vibrant in colours and with bold strokes. This is a gem for boat and history lovers. "His colourful, cheerful works are a manifestation of his freedom to paint from life as he sees it. His paintings are warm, witty and well worth seeing."Review from Association of British Naive Artists 2016 exhibition
