The second volume of the Finnish course introduces the learner to structures needed in writing, as well as speech, especially the use of participles and infinitives as substitutes for various subordinate clauses. Dialogs and narratives are without English translations and the number of new words listed for each chapter has been somewhat reduced.
This beginning language learning course consists of two textx. The basic text, Catchphrase 1 includes 209 lesson units, each containing a dialog or a portion of a dialog, explanations of the main patterns used, and carefully graded excercises. A comprehensive appendix provides answer keys, a glossary, and an index. The supplementary text, Welsh 1 ABC, summarizes language patterns used in everyday speech.
