This book fills a long-standing need in the literature of Voodoo. It is not another history or sociological study, but the author's personal account and how he came to the "religion" from outside. It includes fascinating stories with descriptions of the phenomena triggered by his Voodoo practice, divination techniques, spells and a method of self-initiation. You can't put the book down.
Divination is the art of extracting hidden meaning from the present by using supernatural tools, symbols, or oracles, as guidance for the future. The Zingari (Italian Gypsies) often used keen observation of physical characteristics to interpret possible future outcomes. Since time immemorial, human beings have tried to understand the forces of fate through a variety of imaginative and mystical means. Whether its reading tea leaves, using playing cards, dice, palmistry, or recognizing and interpreting omens, the history of fortune telling is a long one. The Zingari people loved the meadows, woods and flowers, and living far from the haunts of men. Thus, they got nearer to the heart of nature, and were better able to lift the veil from the future and learn a thousand secrets that the dwellers in cities could not know or understand. While the type of information discovered had different values, such as reading the weather was very important to farmers, sailors and others who depended on nature for their living. The love readings, while not related to life and death, were also important socially and emotionally. I have written down many things that are matters of personal knowledge, and besides these I have consulted numerous ancient manuscripts, and have also added certain deductions from modern sources so that you may enjoy and learn from The Zingara Art of Divination. -- Ana Caldaroni
New Falcon Publications has brought together some of the most talented, controversial, and rebellious writers of all time in REBELLION. Many such as William S. Burroughs, Timothy Leary, Aleister Crowley, Israel Regardie, and Jack Parsonsare world famous. Others such as James Wasserman, Lon Milo DuQuette, and Richard Kaczynskiare well-accomplished in their own fields. Still others are lesser-known, for now. But all contributors, in every article, in every aspect of their lives, has had but one focus: to bring freedom to their own worlds. In all of human history the essence of the independent mind has been the need to think and act according to standards from within, not without. To follow ones own path, not that of the status quo. Inevitably, anyone with an independent mind must become one who resists or opposes an authority or established conventionin other words, a Rebel. Usually rebellion takes place so quietly that no one notices. But when those in power recognize the disobedience, the REBEL becomes known as a DEVIL. Until, of course, enough people notice. Then a different stature may be achievedknown as GREATNESS. With contributions by Aleister Crowley, Israel Regardie, Osho Rajneesh, William S. Burroughs, Timothy Leary, Jack Parsons, James Wasserman, Richard Kaczynski, Dr. William S. Hyatt, Ph.D., and many others.
The Nymphomaniac is written in the style of Psycho-Mythology, a creative kind of union between fiction and psychological fact. In this literature an individuals fantasy transcends the personal level, reaching the collective unconscious. Spiegelman had used Jungs method of inner dialogue and Active Imagination for fourteen years, when one day there was a quantum jump for him, and as he put it: The work was no longer merely for my own enlightenment and development, but suddenly took on the possibility of social usefulness. We hope you enjoy the Small Gems Series of books by J. Marvin Spiegelman, Ph.D.
The proper working of ritual is at the heart of the Western magical tradition. In this book, an eminent contemporary occultist and a former member of the Hermetic Society of the Golden Dawn, shows exactly how ceremonial techniques can be used to concentrate and harness the enormous psychic and spiritual potential of human consciousness. Dr. Regardie s detailed analysis and description of key rituals are based on his own considerable experience and his knowledge of Golden Dawn techniques. In addition to providing practical instructions on robes, ritual equipment and decor, he also links current occult practice to broader historical precedents. The daily repetition of ritual brings about an enormous increase in psycho-spiritual sensitivity and provides essential preparation for the final act of initiation that state of spiritual enlightenment that is the goal of the true occultist.
The Treasure House of Images was composed by Captain, later Major General J. F. C. Fuller, one of Aleister Crowley''s most important disciples and a leading military theorist of the twentieth century. Fuller was the author of The Star in the West and a principal editor of The Equinox. The Treasure House of Images is an exquisite work containing hymns to the signs of the Zodiac and the Sun. In Crowley''s Confessions, he described it as some of the most remarkable prose ever written and an astonishing achievement in symbolism. This edition is enhanced by contributions from a number of modern magical writers including David Cherubim, whose introduction places the work in its historical context and discusses its symbolism and use as a manual of Pathworking. Nancy Wasserman offers expanded practical instructions for Astral Travel, and provides an example for designing an actual Pathworking. Lon Milo DuQuette''s foreword to this new edition places all this in context. Also included is Crowley''s masterpiece, Liber O vel Manus et Sagittae, in which specifics for developing the Body of Light are detailed.
The classic book on working with the energy of the body for spiritual purposes, The Middle Pillar by Israel Regardie, is now more complete, more modern, more usable, and better than ever. The exercise known as the Middle Pillar was devised by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Regardie expanded upon it and made it public over 60 years ago in the first edition of this book. Since that time, the exercise has been altered and adapted for just about any spiritual use you could think of. It is a mainstay of many Western traditions of magic. THE MIDDLE PILLAR A Co-Relation of the Principles of Analytical Psychology and the Elementary Techniques of Magic The exercise known as the Middle Pillar was devised by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Regardie expanded upon it and made it public over 60 years ago in the first edition of this book. Since that time, the exercise has been altered and adapted for just about any spiritual use you could think of. It is a mainstay of many Western traditions of magic. The exercise is intended as a technique to break the barrier between the conscious and unconscious. This classic work provides an introduction to magic and occultism while providing directions as to how to perform the Qabalistic Cross, the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram and the Middle Pillar exercise. It remains a classic book in the field. Dr. Israel Regardie authored nearly a dozen original books including such substantial works as A Garden of Pomegranates, The Tree of Life, The Philosopher s Stone and The Middle Pillar all of which were first issued in the 1930s. He worked to make the Golden Dawn system available and understandable to a new generation with new revised editions of The Golden Dawn and original works drawing upon the system in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. His transmission of the Golden Dawn system went beyond just communication of information about the system, he also acted as ritual initiator permitting others the reactivation of the Order.

The Philosopher s Stone presents text and analysis of three major alchemical works, approached symbolically, using the symbol systems and viewpoints of magic and psychology. The objective of alchemical study has been described poignantly by Dr. Israel Regardie. Like modern psychological methods, the alchemical formulae have as their goal the creation of a whole man, a fully integrated individual. Not only does alchemy envisage a person whose several constituents of consciousness are united, but with the characteristic thoroughness of all occult and magical methods, it proceeds a stage further. Alchemy aspires toward the development of a free and illuminated psyche. It is here that it parts company with orthodox psychology, and here that Dr. Regardie s insights shine. The clarity and elegance of the author s style, and the precision and depth of his thought, make The Philosopher s Stone an important and meaningful experience for every person who aspires to personal development and wholeness.
