Paul wrote this letter to a young church of new Christians. Paul wanted them to understand that the way practiced for centuries to get right with God was no longer "the" way. That is the essence of this letter. He surely intended they would understand it. Yet for many this letter is far to complicated. I want to challenge you to a fresh study of this book. It has truly impacted my life and I believe this study can bring you "Peace With God".

John Book wants to become a theology professor. He is working as a translator on a major project at Graf University Divinity School when a newly-discovered, ancient manuscript threatens to shake traditional Christian theology to its foundation. Book's fluency in Syriac should be helpful in determining the fragment's authenticity. But why is he so tormented by shadows from his past? And who is stalking him with murderous intent? Although most of us have lives very different from the central character of this story, the underlying struggles that he deals with are ones we all confront on some level.

The subject of the book is more than numbers and dates. The author hopes, beyond facts and figures, that the reader will perceive the book exalts God's plan, "which is the mother of us all." Galatians 4:26, even his "Word." John 1:1. Prophesied predeterminations of God, ingrained in chronology, speak of God's Omniscience and Omnipotence. The nearing end-season of man's rule moves this subject to the rank of "present truth." How blessed to read and understand; knowing you are a principal in unity with the Creator's will and intent.

Jesus described a divine separation from sinners in Luke 16 as the "great gulf fixed". Man's "free will" created it. This book examines God's repeated enforcement of the "great gulf" separation upon sinful mankind through history. It is demonstrated through the accounts of: The closed gate of Eden. The closed door of Noah's Ark. The closed communications by the confusion of languages. The closed direct fellowship with God through Abraham. The closed path of salvation to men through the Law. And finally, as revealed by the Scriptures, The closed access to salvation by mankind's, now, fallen will through self-generated "faith".

Some Christians are expecting the kingdom of God to come when Jesus returns. And there is an aspect of the fullness of the kingdom that will be made manifest when He returns. However, Jesus began His ministry by preaching, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Jesus was proclaiming that the kingdom was close enough to touch in the here and now. He continued by teaching us to pray, "Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10).

Shouldn''t we believers in Christ understand our Lord''s two natures? Was God the Son in eternity begotten of the essence of God the Father? Is our Lord in His divinity eternally role subordinate to the Father? Does only the divine nature personalize Christ or is there also in Him a human center through which Jesus wills, experiences, and acts? Did Christ give up the use of His divine powers when becoming man? Is the Lutheran dogma biblical that Christ''s divine nature supplies His humanity with the attributes of God?
