My core purpose for writing this book is to offer a clear defense of the real world of biological materialism against several reproaches made by the "world" of idealism. The dominance of Idealism in the Western world, in the forms of religion, mysticism, superstition and man's genuine wondering about the workings of the natural world, began in early human civilization. Everyone who was anyone had his or her own favored theory of where or when mysticism and the superstition of religion originated. Lack of genuine scientific knowledge of the biological world led to various explanations to answer the question of why we existed. This fundamental question was finally answered by the Darwinian theory of natural selection. The idealists "answer" would be that we were "created" by God. This is the fundamental division between the biological materialists' world of natural selection and the idealists' belief in the creation of the world. Scientific materialism covers the relationship between Matter Over Mind and the basic proposition from biological science that living matter existed before mankind, that the mind did not appeared until the organic matter of the brain was organized with the complexity for it to think. In dealing with the concept of Idealism, the reader should be aware the as "Prisoners of Idealism" we follow the premise of Mind Over Matter delusion and that this delusion has become destructive in a very real and personal way.
Gustave Eiffel: Art of Metal Structures VOL. III is the third and final book in the Gustave Eiffel Exploration Series. These three books cover the entire North, Central and South American Continent in the quest to discover original iron structures designed and built by the French engineer. This book contains original full-colour photo illustrations-taken by the author himself-which do justice to the intricate iron structures and to the ornamental details of Eiffel's monuments. The societal components of Eiffel's bridges and railway stations are that they functioned to permit the movement of travelers and commercial goods from one point to the next. A good number of Eiffel's bridges and viaducts were built exclusively for rail use, thus helping to expand the national infrastructure of many South American countries. In fact, many of these bridges and rail stations are still in use today and continue to have an impact on the lives of those who use them. The Bolivar Bridge of Arequipa, Peru, is fairly simple in design yet extremely graceful; it has been in use since 1879. The Farol de Sao Tome, in Campos, Brazil, is a metallic lighthouse that indicates the existence of danger at sea and also provides guidance to navigators on the location of land. It was made by Eiffel in a non-corrosive metal and this is why the Farol de Sao Tome is still in such good shape; it has functioned regularly since 1882. The Cape of St. Tom is a difficult place to navigate due to its submerged rocks which spread 28 kilometres (15 miles) out to sea. The Farol de Sao Tome has undoubtedly saved professional and recreational mariners alike from shipwreck and loss of life. The Santa Barbara Church of Santa Rosalia, Mexico, was designed by Eiffel as a prototype for missionary churches intended for France's colonies in Indochina. The good people of Santa Rosalia lost their church in a fire in 1878. For a number of years, religious ceremonies were held in various locations. In 1889 this galvanized metal structure was put on display in the Paris Exposition to attract potential customers. A benevolent Santa Rosalia citizen learned of the structure, purchased it, had it disassembled, shipped and then reassembled in Santa Rosalia, to the benefit of the townsfolk. This photo-journal book provides many and varied examples of Eiffel's iron structures which are imbued with social character and cultural significance.
Guestave Eiffel: Beyond the Tower Vol. I contains full-colour pictures of Eiffel's monuments in the American Continent. All of the pictures found in all of the three volumes of the Gustave Eiffel Exploration Series were taken by the author, Constantine Issighos, in his quest to unravel the mysteries and locations of the Eiffel monuments in the Americas. After starting as a novice construction engineer, Eiffel began his ground-breaking, impressive and creative career as a structural engineer with the completion of dozen of iron works around the world. When talking about Gustave Eiffel, we usually think of his two prominent monuments, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Statute of Liberty in New York. Eiffel's creation of the Statute's central support system made it possible for it to withstand strong winds and other climatic changes. The widening, curved base at its foundation resists the lateral load caused by strong winds. Eiffel's Tower, built in 1889, was the first 324 meter (1065 foot) tall structure at the time. Visitors were enchanted to view the metropolitan city of Paris from such a height--a "first in the world" accomplishment for Eiffel. However, what is not well known is that Eiffel's designs and construction of metal structures can be found on most continents. It took the author over five (5) years and thousand of miles of traveling to discover Eiffel's monuments in the American continent alone. The three volumes of the Gustave Eiffel Exploration Series show how orders were taken in France and then shipped as portable "Kids" with all the re-assembly instructions, including nuts, bolts, and double steel "U", "T" and "Angle" support parts. Today, it is possible to visit Eiffel's bridges, pavilions, mansions, train stations, churches and cathedrals, including pir-docks, fruit and vegetable markets, factories and ornamental water-fountains in several countries. The works of Gustave Eiffel were not limited to those mentioned above, for Eiffel experimented in telecommunications, aerodynamics and weather patterns, thus creating a practical use for his Tower. Without a doubt Gustave Eiffel was one of the most influential structural engineers and ornamental artist of all times. His immense impact on the field of structural architecture is unquestionable. While his most well-known structure is the Eiffel Tower, in this book you will discover that he designed many other awe-inspiring iron projects as well.

This is perhaps our most immediate task, the preservation of the Amazon rain forest's ethno-botanical gardens. We are discovering the ways and means to benefit from these potential cures for current health problems. Curing serious health issues might justify the exploration of these medicinal plants; we must make sure that we continue to live in a sustainable balance with what nature and indigenous wisdom offers. Description of medicinal plants in this book is for educational purposes; there are not offered as proven medicinal cures. This fully colorful book is highly recommended for the whole family, healthcare workers, holistic, herbalists, elementary and middle level schools, community libraries and collectors of The Amazon Exploration Series.

This book is VOL. 16. The trance is essential if a shaman is to reach an "altered stage of consciousness." With the aid of the Ayahuasca plant and chanting, the shaman gradually goes into a trance, and in this state can initiate actions both offensive and defensive in nature. For the amazonian indigenous communities, the shaman is the meeting point among all possible worlds; he is today as relevant as in the past. In the shamanic cosmological universe the shaman is the mediator that unites the invisible world with the visible world. This explains the reasons why, in spite of widespread cultural changes, authentic shamanism has not declined in the slightest. It is a powerful cultural influence for the inhabitants of the Amazon. This engaging book is also about the shaman's use of medicinal plants, which amply fills a new approach to tribal spirituality. An ideal introduction of shamanism for young readers. It will enrich their desire to learn about medicinal plants and spiritual alternatives. This real life colorfully illustrated narrative is highly recommended for naturalist, students of anthropology, school and community libraries and collectors of The Amazon Exploration Series.
Some say that the Amazon rain forest is a piece of natural perfection. If you are lucky, you can look in the branches above, and enjoy the magical mystical world of the canopy's living species, from insects to birds, from monkeys to butterflies. Exotic freshwater giants inhabit the rivers and tributaries; from the notorious Piranhas to the wonderful Pink and Grey Dolphins. This is the aquatic world of the Amazon's Pacaya-Samiria Reserve. Vines and purple-tongued orchids suspend themselves in the mid-air, their leaves ruffled by the river's slight breeze. Reading this numbered series book, you will be able to virtually transport yourself into this natural heaven. This book is highly recommended for the whole family, elementary and middle schools, naturalists, biologists, community libraries, and collectors of The Amazon Exploration Series.
The name "The Jaguar People" is an honorary title given by the author to three Amazonian tribes who derive their inspiration and cultural traditions from the jaguar--the Marayonas, the Pirahas and the Ashanikas. Among these Amazonian tribes we can observe common survival characteristics such as fishing and hunting for their primary food sources. There are only a handful of Amazonian tribes the still practice this ancient way of life. An indeterminate number of cosmological levels constitute the indigenous universe of good and evil spirits. The primary ornamental facial designs of these three tribes, however, pay mystical homage to the jaguar and its incredible hunting skills. The revered jaguar personifies the power and courage exhibited by the tribal hunters in pursuit of their prey. This engaging numbered series book gives the reader a glimpse into the unique lives of three Amazonian tribes, some of which still live in a primary "state of nature." This real life illustrated book is recommended for the entire family, for elementary and middle schools, anthropologists, naturalists and collectors of The Amazon Exploration Series.
When the morning sun clears the rain forest canopy of the Upper Amazon basin of Peru and strikes its green carpet, one of the world's most dazzling wildlife spectacles is nearing its riotous peak. A retrospective look at the current drug prohibition, the author Constantine Issighos demonstrates the USA's drug policy as being ineffective, destructive and expensive, thus describing an "anatomy of failure." He examines the origins of the drug temperance movement to legislate public morality, which turned into the war on drugs. Yet, despite the ineffectiveness of the USA's policy, drug prohibition continues to cause massive human tragedy in our youth and among Latin America's coca plant growers. The author has witnessed the destructiveness of the DEA's mercenaries, the coca plant eradication and its effects on the life and health of the campesinos. Events described in this book are true stories, but this is not an autobiography of the author's experience as a contrabandist, smuggler, bootlegger, forger and corruptors of officials, per see. Although some details of the author's real life experiences under prohibition are brought forward, those are presented only to support certain important points against the present drug prohibition. The author shows that drug use, distribution, production and policies cannot be examined in isolation from the policies and practices of Drug Prohibition and the War on Drugs. Here the issue of drug prohibition is not treated as an academic subject, but as real life consequences and lessons that needed to be told. The focus of the lessons is simple, for the end of prohibition means the end of drug criminality. Religious puritanical moralists have a perpetual conflict in dealing with human relations that are not "immaculate" acts in any form. The imminent thread is that there is no limit to the moral erosion of humanity where the irrational becomes a routine practice.
This book is VOL. 18. The Amazon is in peril! Identifying the areas and level of the destruction of its ecosystem is not simply an academic issue, nor should it be treated as such. Hundreds of thousands of indigenous natives of the Amazon rain forest have been displaced from their traditional lands due to political and economic conflicts between hostile forces in Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Brazil. Indigenous communities have become marginalized by corrupt government policies and by war-driven forces, including narco-terrorists, unscrupulous national and international commercial interest and individual ignorance and arrogance. Yet, indigenous social mobilization is at its height, deriving their support from national and international NGO's, pro-active environmentalists groups such as the Greenpeace and individuals like you and I. The aim is to form a united front in the flight to save the rich biodiversity of the Amazon Rain forest and its inhabitants. This book and the entire Series is highly recommended for the whole family, environmentalists, elementary and middle school curriculum, community libraries and collectors of The Amazon Exploration Series.
