"Rumie, a forest dwelling mouse, longs to sail down the stream and find out where it leads. Unfortunately, it is spring and the season needs to see more rain before the stream will be deep enough for Uncle's sail boat. However, after spotting a ladybird floating down the stream on a leaf, Rumie hatches an idea--they should build a raft! Uncle agrees to help out. They construct the raft and make plans to test it out together the next morning. Rumie wakes up bright and early and ready to raft, but Uncle is still sleeping. Rumie waits and waits, until they just can't wait any longer, and they decide there's no harm in testing out the raft alone. Rumie starts in the shallows, but rain from the night before made the current stronger than Rumie expected, and suddenly both Rumie and raft are swept away, down the stream. Before long, Rumie discovers exactly where the stream goes--right over a waterfall! The raft flips over and luckily, Uncle is there in time to throw Rumie a life buoy and pull them to shore. Back on the shore, Uncle reveals that he was up late the night before sewing life jackets. Rumie realizes that they should have waited for their Uncle instead of going out alone. As they row out onto the lake that afternoon together (with lifejackets on!), the ladybird floats by again. Suddenly, a new idea hatches, and Rumie's head is filled with dreams of flying"--

A timeless and magical story about the power of love and imaginationEvery night Milo's mom tucks him in and reads him three bedtime stories, and Milo taps his dad's picture three times. Mom always falls asleep first, so Milo sneaks out the window, catches a ride on a comet, and travels far above the clouds to help the Keeper of Stars. After a long day, the sky is a bit of a mess. Together, Milo and the Keeper of Stars gather up stray balloons and feathers, rinse and polish the stars (which would be easier if they weren't so ticklish!), and sometimes, the Keeper of Stars lets Milo play games with the baby stars. When everything is tidy, the two hard workers enjoy a cup of cocoa together and admire the millions of bright twinkles in the night sky before Milo heads back to his room and slides into bed, careful not to wake his mom.Spare text twinkles with warmth, imagination, and humor as a child finds his own way to cope with separation from a parent and whimsical, eye-catching illustrations bring this charming bedtime adventure to life.

But, later in the day, while baking baklava with Amma, the temptation proves too hard to resist and she takes a big bite. At first, Aliya is terribly disappointment in herself for giving in to her hunger, but she soon learns that there are other ways that she can celebrate Ramadan. She and her parents spend the month preparing and delivering meals to people in need. "Jeffrey is very attached to the colour blue. He wears blue socks, blue underwear, a blue hat, and -- of course! -- blue jeans. At painting class, he paints only in blue. But when his classmate, Keiko, wants to use the blue paint, Jeffery will have to try a different colour. With some gentle coaxing, the narrator helps him to navigate his emotions, encouraging him to consider Keiko's feelings and to find the courage to try something new while also doing something nice for a friend. Sometimes, Jeffrey fixates on certain likes and dislikes. This story points out that something that's seems simple for some people can be very complicated for others, and Jeffrey's caregiver provides choice and time and space to help Jeffrey process his emotions. The focus of the story is not about getting rid of Jeffrey's fixation -- it's about widening his perspective in order to help a friend, and thus encouraging empathy."--
