HOLDING PATTERN is the book accompanying an exhibition project by Katharina Kiebacher. It was created in response to the lockdown of exhibition venues during the Corona pandemic. Visitors could choose one of 100 photographic works to hang in their homes for a period of time. The "rental fee" was an installation photo of the work in the private space. These can now be found in this publication. In the book, all 100 works are initially shown in pairs, divided into the categories transport, patterns, landscape-but it's not that simple: there are pattern images that show vehicles, there are vehicles driving through landscapes and there are landscapes that look like patterns. So the viewer is now drawn into Katharina Kiebacher's memory game, finding other connections between the photos or perhaps completely new categories.
The photographer Jörg Dedering started his project "BERLIN ARTISTS" during the corona pandemic. He visited artists in their studios and photographed more than 100 Berlin personalities. With his portraits Dedering shows the Berlin art scene in its individuality and diversity. His very personal selection of artists and the calm that his portraits radiate, result in an authentic picture of the artists and their situation in lockdown.
With her "notebook of dreams" Dineo Seshee Bopape transports you into the world of African scents. Nothing distracts. The book has been left mostly unprinted, but each right-hand page is coated with a scented print varnish manufactured using a traditional hydro-distillation technique out of the material of earthenware clay vessels to simulate the fragrance of parched soil and withered plants after a rainstorm. Reinforcing this sense perception associated with powerful emotions and memories, a QR code opens an audio file recoded by Bopape that enhances the experience of rain with an acoustic dimension.Cosmic!
