BASED ON TRUE EVENTSMICKEY FORTUNATO'S old man left him a 1970 Monte Carlo...and the mantra..."just be cool, kid." Armed with natural talent and a dream to rise above the cards dealt him from the hardscrabble South Side of Chicago, MICKEY sets out to make a movie about his life that he will call "79th Street." What does this ironworker from Middle America know about making a movie--very little if you compare him to his Hollywood counterparts but everything if you ask the street guys he grew up around because what Mickey lacks in film production experience, he more than makes up for in his loyalty, fearlessness and determination.Mickey sinks his life savings into setting up the film project with the expectation that a wealthy benefactor is going to put in the rest of the budget. The benefactor unexpectedly pulls out, leaving Mickey in a lurch, but he doesn't flinch. While burning asphalt between the rusty steel Chicago sky and sun drenched L.A. rooftop parties, Mickey comes up with a plan. Addicted to action, honor and painkillers, Mickey's gonna make good on his promise to the cast and crew. He'll finance the rest of "79th Street" himself but it's not gonna be easy and it sure isn't gonna be legal.
