As we are getting closer to the end of this world, certain biblical truths, which were not revealed to our fathers and forefathers, are going to be made known to us. For the Bible tells us that knowledge shall increase in the last days (Daniel 12:4). One of these is the truth about hell and hellfire. Hellfire is not a literal fire as some people think, but rather the state where souls will yearn for the Word of God and will not have him. Their souls will be burning for the Word of God, whom they cannot have. They will thirst for the living water, which is no longer available to them. They had the opportunity to drink from the fountain of life flowing with the living water, but they did not make use of that opportunity. Their souls will be restless and uncomfortable for eternity. Souls who do not accept the Lord Jesus Christ, who came to die for the sin of men in order to bring us back to the Father, will be burning for the Word of God, thirsty for the living water, but it will be too late because they have been cut off from the presence of God forever. This is the truth about hell and hellfire.

This book is the consolidation of family research carried out over some fifty years. It concentrates on the family name Barrow brought to the island of Barbados in the 17th century. Six separate Barrow families are identified. Early members of five of these families established roots and contributed to the growth and economic viability of the island. However as time advanced, most of the members of these five families departed Barbados for more promising opportunities in life. Today, there are no known representatives of the original five families, with the name Barrow, living in Barbados. The sixth family of Barrows had its origins in Barbados in the 19th century. In more recent times two members of this family were prominent in the Government of Barbados. Dame Nita Barrow was Governor General of the island and her brother the Hon. Errol Barrow was the first Prime Minister of Barbados at Independence in 1966. The book is divided into six parts, each part dealing with one of the families. Part I forms the largest portion of the book and presents the Barrows connected to the Cambridge Barrows of England. The most distinguished member of the Cambridge Barrows was Dr. Isaac Barrow who taught Sir Isaac Newton at Trinity College, Cambridge. The author has published another book entitled, ÒIsaac NewtonÕs Teacher, Ó which deals with the relationship between Barrow and Newton.

Eddie Foy, the famous vaudevillian who toured the West during the late 1800s, was qouted as saying that compared to Leadville, Colorado, Dodge City resembled a Sunday School. The 10,200 - foot high "Magic City" was one of the wildest mining camps of the era. This book is a semi-biographical history of Martin "Mart" Duggan, who was Leadville City marshal for two and nearly three terms before he met his end at the hands of gambling pals. But Leadville was also home to numerous other fascinating characters, not the least of whom was John Henry "Doc" Holliday, who had his last gunfight in Leadville in 1884.They all came to Leadville: the confidence men, the gamblers, the stage robbers, and the "soiled doves" though they could have never known it at the time, being primarily concerned with survival, these individuals in their totality combined to create one of the most intriguing camps in the Wild West. And the site of much of the action that made Leadville unique occurred on State Street, the half mile long stretch of gambling dens, saloons, and bawdy houses that rivaled any red light district then in existence.Even today, when State Street has been renamed Second Street, one can imagine Mart Duggan, Doc Holliday, and Tombstone's Johnny Tyler, to name only a few walking westward from Harrison Avenue to the east-west mecca of State Street. Gazing upward they would see majestic Mount Massive directly in front of them. What a view! What a mining camp!Marshal Mart Duggan's Leadville - the Wild West at its most fascinating.
Environmentalists win a battle to preserve a rare prairie in a beautiful corner of northwest Illinois. They defeat a move to locate a prison on what was called a "pristine" site.
