THE BOYS WHO BRING IN THE CROP is a mostly true story about a group of amateur marijunana smugglers who operated out of Florida in the mid seventies. These guys really had some cajones, they did their thing right under the noses of the law. They made seven flights to Colombia and back and never got caught, partly because they were smart and planned well, partly because of dumb luck. The book is fast paced, it all takes place in less than one year. Along the way there is plenty of adventure, not everything goes as planned. There is some romance thrown in, these guys knew how to enjoy life with the piles of money they accumulated.

Herman Erb was my uncle and actually was a farmer f om Cottage Grove. I used my memories of those two men and an old gas pump to help me tell the story that although people age and change, we are still vital and valuable and should not be forgotten or disregarded. It is a message to children, who get so absorbed with themselves and the pace of their own lives, that they lose sight of those who helped forge the opportunities that they enjoy today. The families represented in this book, fourteen generations, and over 10 500 people, were started 343 years ago; soon after Antoine Crispell and his wife Maria arrived in America and settled in Kingston, NY; 1660. Because this book is partly a republication, including introductions and credits from the prior books, many historical facts will be found as you read further. In Volume I of this three volume book, we've included additional history and interesting materials prepared by Lew Crispell, Sharon Robinson, and Roger Crispell, former Presidents of our family association. Diane Crispell also contributed important material. Special thanks go to David Baker, Historian for the Village of Hurley who contributed to our meetings and added noteworthy articles about Crispells and early life in Hurley. Important to us because it was in Hurley that the group who went south and founded New Paltz, first settled. In 1677 the group bought several thousand acres from the Esopus Indians, and on what is now Hugenot Street, they built stone houses, a church, started families and established what is now a National Historic District; a living museum, properly referred to as "The oldest street in America with its original stone houses." By the fourth generation descendants began to migrate to outlying areas and family groups were established in Pennsylvania and in 'upstate New York', specifically the Caroline Valley and Slaterville Springs, near Ithica. Our Cripell Family Association was founded in 1966; one of several, each with the purpose to preserve their historic homes and family trees. Our mission was the replication of the 1717 French Church, completed in 1972, now identified as "The French Church (Crispell Memorial)."

Although the white rafting duck does not actually go white water rafting, his adventures of seeking a mate lead him to an awesome journey down a fast rapid white water brook past Miss Carol's flower shop and his return with his mate months later. This book talks about the white rafting duck as Miss Carol sees him and explains his friends, the magnificent mallards. The difference between colors of the female and male mallards. The emotional feelings of the little white duck that children can relate to.

The journey was difficult, but gradually love, which conquers all, made life peaceful and joyful. After a struggle for survival, through storms and heat, the little tree's life was indeed precarious. But one day, when it was least expected, a little green leaf grew and then a little flower, until the whole tree was alive and growing. One day, when spring came, the tree bore fruit. The trip from Sicily to Australia had begun. Marianna didn't want to leave her birthplace, and she was furious with her parents for putting her in that position. She was leaving everything she behind and was angry and sad for the whole long and tedious boat trip. She wasn't sure what to expect. As they left Sicily, the sea was calm and tranquil, but the ocean was fearful and enormous. Eventually, the family arrived in their new home, Australia. There Marianna began very different life full of new knowledge and adjustment. She went to school and met her future husband, a loving and wonderful person and started a family. That was the point that brought joy into her life and the feeling that a positive future in Australia was on the horizon.

There is numerous Order of Battle books on the market. So what makes this series so special. Why should one decide on this particular book? First, the first part of each book contains the overall command structure of the country's armed forces. Then it gives command structure for the army, navy, and air force. The command structure for Military Theaters, Army Groups, Naval Commands, Armies, Fleets, Corps, and/or equivalent Commands is also listed. Second, the book contains a complete Order of Battle. Most Order of Battle usually deal with only the armies of the country/countries involved, and then only at the division and sometimes at the corps level. Higher echelons of commands are usually not covered. The exception to this was a book published by the Military Book Club in 2002, Slaughterhouse: The Encyclopedia of the Eastern Front. The book did an excellent job on the German Army on the Eastern Front, from Army Group down to Division. But, only a fair job on the Soviet Union Army. In the series of books I am writing, all of the commanders known are spelled out, and not just for the army, but all the branches of the armed forces; giving a breakdown of all the major echelons of command, from theater level down to division. Under each major component, in the book (Army Group, Armies, Corps, and Divisions), the equivalent commands of the other military branches (navy, air force, marine, etc.) of the country's armed forces are included.. Third, most Order of Battles list the commanders and their dates of tenure. This one includes those, but also lists of their next duty assignment, where the officer went after leaving this post. One can literally trace a general officer's career through the upper echelons of commandwith this book. Making this book completely different from all the others on the market. Fourth, military unit and/or ship insignia, crest, emblem, or patches are pictured next to the unit/ship, whenever it was found. Fifth, the Appendix is broken down into several parts. Appendix A, has the usual table of Equivalent Ranks. Appendix B, lists senior officers, full Generals and Admirals and above, during the war. Another appendix lists some Military Units used in different campaigns. Sixth, one appendix lists the Major Naval Warships and their commanders. This appendix is unique as I know of no other book on the market that offers this. It shows the silhouette of the major warship (carriers, battleships, battlecruisers, heavy and light cruisers) whenever found; plus an Order of Battle of the commanders. In some cases, the ship's crest and emblem is also given. In addition, there is also four to five pages after the introduction, explaining how to use and read the book. This is the fifth book in a series, and the first half of Volume V; that I plan to write covering all the nations who were involved in this world conflict.

Hugh Johnson is a womanizing insensitive individual who aspires to be happy at all times. He beds many women and feels justify about his promiscuity. Hugh does not believe in hypocrisy so he expresses his true feelings at all times. David Johansen's interpretation of sex and relationship is totally different to that of his best friend. He aspires to find the girl of his dream to get marry and settle down. This novel is fictional but it's thought-provoking and hilarious.

At times people wonder what it would like to meet Jesus. In 1990 Almita Bey-Carriòn entered into a mystical encounter with Jesus while she was meditating on the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. Born Subversive is the memoir of Nadejda Marques, a woman born in the midst of social upheaval, violence and transformation in Brazil. In 1973, when she is just nine months old, her father is kidnapped, tortured and murdered by the military regime that seized power in Brazil in 1964. Her mother then flees to Chile alone. A friend takes the infant Nadejda separately to Santiago, Chile where the three meet just days before the military coup d'état there led by Gen. Augusto Pinochet in September 1973. Nadejda and her mother now must flee Pinochet's henchmen. They become refugees setting off on a journey that takes them to Sweden, Russia, Cuba, Panama and, finally, back to Brazil. Later, Nadejda continues her own journey, marrying an American human rights activist in Brazil, working in Angola and settling eventually, in Massachusetts. Born Subversive follows the life of Nadejda Marques through three decades of profound change. In so doing, the book takes the reader on a journey that is extremely personal, moving and political. The storyline weaves through a Latin America of unbounded democratic promise and equally profound disappointment. In seeking to help her daughter, Mara, to understand her identity and history, Nadejda comes to appreciate fully her own. About the Book LIMITED SERVICE - Many people think control tower operators laze about in an ivory tower on their shifts, listening to Glen Miller Band radio broadcasts and drinking coffee all the time. They are right about drinking the coffee, my stomach attests to that, but there was no lazing about, and I never did hear a Glen Miller Band broadcast when on duty. Radio contact was from and to pilots, co-pilots, aircraft flight radiomen, and crew chiefs. Like all inductees, my initial service time was spent in basic Army training. In my case, this was followed by radio operators' mechanic school, then control tower operators' school, and then waiting for an assignment to a field operation. In between the waiting and travel, time is described from railways to troopships, to riverboats, to airplanes, to trucks. The reader is taken on a 'round the world cruise and given insight into the control tower operations of the U.S. Air Force during World War II campaigns in China, Burma, and India. In a few hours of reading, the reader will also discover just why it took the author three years of active Army duty to find out what "limited service" meant, and he or she will experience the kindness to a complete stranger from America as displayed by other Americans, by the Brits, by the Indians, and by the Chinese.

The Nunavut Land Claims Agreement became law in 1993. Claiming Nunavut traces the Nunavut Inuit Land Claim from its roots in 1971 to the birth of Nunavut in 1999. From the mid 1500's onwards, the Inuit of Canada's Eastern Arctic began to experience the effects of colonialism in their homeland. This began with early European explorers and traders and eventually, in the 1960's led to police services, a military presence, and money economy, and the herding of Inuit into small settlements. Negative colonial influences eventually led to the formation of the Inuit Tapirisat in 1971 and the desire for Inuit to create Nunavut, a new Territory and the first change to the map of Canada since 1949. Inuit succeeded in their negotiations, and the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement was passed through Canadian Parliament in 1993. This passing decreed that Nunavut would be formed in 1999. This book traces the Inuit lobby from 1971-1993 and the implementation of Nunavut from 1993-1999. This is the story of the Inuit who were at the forefront of this massive undertaking. Nunavut is the first and only modern day treaty in Canada that calls for a new Territory. This is a direct result of the Inuit desire to have the ability to manage their land and resources in a way that reflects Inuit values and tradition. The author, Stephen Mercer, lived in Nunavut from 1989 to 2003 and was fortunate to know many of the main personalities on a personal basis.

Road From Hilldene chronicles the boyhood of the author on a farm in rural Virginia during the Great Depression. It tells of hard work and happy play of a time long ago. Times were lean. On the farm, there was no electricity, telephone or radio; farm work was performed with horse and mule. Harvesting hay, threshing wheat and working in the cornfields contrasted with Huck Finn-type adventures floating down the river in a leaky homemade boat with playmates. Accidents on the farm called for frantic horseback rides for the only doctor in the nearby town. The author relates the happy times along with his sadness when events force him to leave the farm. His adult career in engineering and management positions in NASA's manned space programs, Gemini, Apollo and the Space Shuttle, contrasted sharply with his simple boyhood life.

Like the sun and the moon walking around the universe, shining over the earth, benefiting all beings, without pride, this is the main idea of the book in which the author looks into the depth of human nature in the cause of human history and civilization.
