One Canada is a vision of creating a strong and united Canada, out of the dysfunctional federation of 10 provinces and three territories, leading to the greatest country on Earth. Canada was created to be a strong country, nurturing the regions, eventually becoming greater than its parts. As Canada grew from infancy, the provinces, the aunts and uncles of Confederation, also grew and aspired to become independent countries on their own. Since the Centennial in 1967, the young Canada grew, exerting the rights given to it by the Constitution. The aunts and uncles, having designs of nationhood, began resenting the young adult, forcing it to gradually ceding its control and now is a nearly impotent custodian of Canadian citizenship, and almost equal to the aunts and uncles in stature. The Canadian Federation has devolved into a state of feudalism, where "passing the buck" is the common denominator between the federal and provincial governments. Municipal governments blame the provincial for their ills; the provinces then blame the federal government with the buck passing in a vicious circle. Inside the vicious circle are the people of Canada bound in red tape while being taxed to death to pay for the ineffectiveness of governments. With each provincial government determined to create its own kingdom within Canada, One Canada will never be a reality, unless a new paradigm of governance is developed for all of Canada. The new paradigm is governance at the local municipal level, supervised by the national government. The Fathers of Confederation clearly defined the powers and responsibilities of the federal Parliament and the provincial legislatures. Had the clear division of powers been followed, Canada would, today, be greater than the sum of its regions. For the first 100 years of Confederation, the provincial governments, like aunts and uncles, helped nurture Canada through the adolescent years and into nationhood. Like the Jamaican Proverb, "Two bull caan reign in a the same pen"*, the 10 provincial and one federal government have been locking horns together. Now the time has come for the provinces to remove their blinders, let Canada grow into maturity, bringing greater prosperity to its people. * (Two bull caan reign in a the same pen) Jamaican patois (Two Bulls cannot reign in a herd) English (There can only be one leader) The Meaning.
Positive Aikido is available on bookshelves around the globe. This book, an in-depth look at our school's special brand of technique, strategy, philosophy as well as unique history, took about 15 years to compile, but will soon be offered in print by the world's leading on-demand publisher. Trafford Holdings Ltd is privately-held corporation, registered in British Columbia, Canada. There are over 120 shareholders, including many authors and all the permanent employees. It was incorporated in 1991. In late 1995, Trafford opened its doors and website. They are the first company in the world to offer an "on-demand publishing service," and they are the best. The production of "Positive Aikido" has gone through numerous stages. The hand-drawings describing each of the positive techniques in traditional Aikido were begun in 1987 with the intention of providing new students with a reference guide - at the time to be photocopied for students in the U.S. and later possibly for the U.K. students as well. That plan, however, never took hold as more and more drawings were produced. The drawings of the first four groupings were finished in 1991 and in 1993, the second four groupings were added, along with some transcripts from a recorded converstaion between Sensei Ellis and Rogers on a long roadtrip between Dallas, Texas and Alamogordo, New Mexico. Rogers made his 1st Dan during that trip, and Positive Aikido picked up a lot of its histories and background information. Still, it was no more than a shep of papers cobbled together from various sources. In 1999, however, with the advent of digital photgraphy, Rogers decided to augment the drawings with some digital photos and possibly put together a proper booklet for students in all the Ellis Schools. The photos, however, required some supporting text - and there was a lot of other material which needed to be conveyed as well. The transcripts were rewritten and cleaned up a bit and the photos were digitally processed for the first four forms. During another visit to New Mexico, Sensei and his assistant Anita Wilson along with Sensei's son did the demonstrations needed for the last four forms. Later, the first four forms were re-shot with Sensei Rogers and one of his first U.S. students, Jeff Glaze of New Mexico. By this time, "Positive Aikido" was being developed as a book. The agent and publishers we first contacted agreed, but the material was still fairly rough. More photos were shot and extensive digital work was done on them to clarify technique. Additional sections were added to describe combat strategy and the philosophy behind "Positive Aikido". Sections on ethics and morals within the arts were developed along with material dealing with the selection of a martial art for beginners. And of course, the history section was strengthened and sharpened. Lastly, a complete reorganization of the material was accomplished with an addition of a section on pins and control and weapons (jo and sword). The finished work is comprised of more than 1000 photos, 600 hand-drawings and complex explanations and tips to make the techniques of Aikido work properly. It includes detailed writing on the "Positive" mindset as well as complete sections geared to beginners, intermediate students and advanced practitioners. Although several traditional publishers expressed interest in printing the book, and initial negotiations were entered into with one California-based company, the advent of "print-on-demand" technology and the resulting new publishing market, made for a better alternative. Of this book as it stands now, the authors say this. There are a lot of books on Martial Arts out there, and this one fits in the crowd well - but it also stands alone in the sheer comprehensiveness of the work. It is a nearly complete representation of a single school's technique - it is a historical marker - a book of strategy - an ethical guide - a technical manual - and it is a chart, g...
Removing the Sting is a blend of autobiography, inspiration and encouragement. Written to bring comfort to those facing health or emotional challenges, the book contains a mosaic of stories, poetry, prayers and humour. The story begins by describing a young girl's life in England following World War II. In 1950, when Pauline is five years old, her mother dies following surgery to remove a brain tumor. Two years after this event, Pauline is separated from her older brother and sister, when her father sends her to live with an aunt in London. The emotional fallout from these two events causes a great deal of hurt and anger to build in this young girl's heart, preventing her from truly appreciating the kindness of the people trying to help her. All through the years growing up, marriage to her childhood sweetheart and the exciting prospects of a new life in Canada - she keeps the pain within. Adversity seems to attach itself to Pauline's life until April 1984 when her sister's Bible study group in England start to pray for her. Within a few short weeks, the power of prayer from half-way around the world has a dramatic effect on Pauline's life and many miraculous events occur. A time of emotional healing takes place as Pauline learns to trust in a loving God. Many happy successful years follow. As Pauline grows in faith, she asks God a question, "e;What is your plan for my life Lord?"e; God's answer to her prayer seems to be wait - so she waits. She becomes quite adept at juggling church, home and work and the future looks rosy indeed. Following her fiftieth birthday, however, Pauline notices a gradual reduction in muscle strength, slight loss of stamina and experiences problems with balance. As the months and years pass, these gradual symptoms increase to the point where she definitely knows something is wrong. Finally in June 1998, Pauline accepts an early retirement package from her employer and goes home to rest. A year later, thanks to her sister-in-law's keen observations, Pauline is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In the months following her diagnosis, Pauline joins a support group for writers and starts to jot down ideas for keeping a positive attitude. This therapeutic exercise is undertaken not just for herself, but with the idea in mind that somehow she may be able to help other people facing similar situations. Pauline discovers many actual blessings from having Parkinson's disease and writes about them. She develops a deeper relationship with God and begins trusting Him and thanking Him for every precious day. As family and friends comfort her with their love and support, Pauline again asks God for direction - gently reminding Him that she can no longer afford the luxury of waiting. His answer comes loud and clear...WRITE!Renewed in spirit and blessed with a strong faith, Pauline begins reaching out to others with words of inspiration and encouragement. Starting with a new poem, All Our Days Belong to the Lord, Pauline keeps on writing until the ideas form to share her life story and Removing the Sting is born. ----------------------------------Reviews"e;REMOVING THE STING is a blend of autobiography, inspiration and encouragement. "e;Bodie, the very sound of that name conjures up images of "e;The Bad Man From Bodie"e;, a rough and tumble life, and the harsh climate of a gold mine boomtown of the early West. But to a young park ranger and his wife, fresh out of college, and with a child on the way, it was an intimidating beginning to a 32-year career with California Department of Parks and Recreation. A PATHWAY THROUGH PARKS follows the career of Ranger Carl S. Chavez and his family as they travel the length and breadth of California from the ghost town of Bodie State Historic Park to the mountains and beaches of Southern California. Each new assignment brings new adventures and challenges as Ranger Chavez promotes up the career ladder to positions on the Central Coast of California, the Sierra Nevada and finally to the redwoods of Northern California at Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Career decisions must be made which result in advancement, "e;out of the field"e;, and into the Management ranks of Regional and Division Headquarters. Yet even these changes do not alter the opportunity for stories and tales of humor and tragedy, joy and sorrow, adventure and routine, and the success and failure that many readers will recognize in their own lives. Anyone who has retired from the workforce, regardless of occupation, will have memories like those found in A PATHWAY THROUGH PARKS. The author's experiences will give all those who love the Great Outdoors and enjoy our parks and forests a rare, inside glimpse, not only of the inner workings of park operations, but also, of family life living in parks.
With uncommon insight, The Sage's Way uses the tradition of Oriental wisdom to explore such common subjects as acceptance, patience, power, self, grace, grief and laughter. Think of its Prologue and 64 Chapters as the Eastern philosophical equivalent of Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet. Each chapter is composed of a teaching and a commentary. The teachings- from a mysterious sage of Mount Shan- are concise and dense, somewhat like the enigmatic pronouncements that might come from a reclusive mystic. The commentaries- offered by Old Shu, a remarkable hunchback living a life of contented simplicity- are wonderfully sensible and wise, somewhat like our own deepest awareness when we are introspective, honest, trusting and intuitive. The Sage's Way leads readers toward an awareness that will inspire inner strength and quiet serenity. This is the best of Oriental wisdom, the essence of both Taoism and Zen presented with a grounded clarity that is both deeply challenging and elegantly simple. As such, this book is likely to become a lifetime companion, offering day-to-day guidance while providing poignant readings for special occasions. Author of internationally sold books The Tao of Relationships, The Tao of Being, The Tao of Sailing, Zen Brushpoems, The Tao of Zen, The New Lao Tzu, Ray Grigg is eminently qualified to offer this work to those who are seeking a balanced and harmonious way through the sometimes bewildering challenges of ordinary life.
About the Book This book does not take a neutral stand on the issue of mass unemployment. It is an effort to expose capitalism's most outrageous feature - its compulsive need to use unemployment and the fear of unemployment to ensure the docility and subservience of its workers. Under the capitalist system, the stick of the fear of unemployment is necessary to keep workers' noses to the grindstone and make them perform to the satisfaction of their employers. The stick is needed because much work is boring, the carrot paid is less than a living wage, provides workers very little or no control over the work process, and stifles creativity - in short because the total carrot offered to numerous workers is so woefully inadequate. Under a different system, one in which working people participated fully in the decisions affecting what, how and for what purpose goods and services were produced; if we had a system based on economic democracy, there would be no need to use the stick of the fear of unemployment. The creativity of most of the millions of working people, now mostly dormant, would be awakened and the volume and quality of improvements and inventions especially in housing, energy, transit systems and health care would be so great as to tower high above and completely overshadow the number and purpose of the innovations created under the present system. The issue of unemployment is shrouded in half-truths and outright lies. As a result, there is almost total ignorance about the real causes of unemployment and worse still, about its very serious consequences. Many claim that there are enough jobs but that the unemployed are lazy and would rather be on welfare. While this may be true of a very small fraction of the unemployed, it is not true of the overwhelming majority. There have been numerous instances in which whenever advertisements calling for applicants for relatively well-paid jobs or for jobs that paid better than the minimum wage, the number of applicants that applied for those jobs were ten or more times greater than the number of jobs that were advertised. In September 26th of 1984, to mention just one instance, the Associated Press News Agency reported that "e;50,000 people lined up for 350 jobs."e; The report went on to say that "e;the applicants, some of whom waited in line for two days, hope to land a longshoreman's job paying $15.45 an hour or a marine clerk's job earning $17.45 an hour... However the fact that only 350 jobs are currently available didn't dismay the crowd, which queued up in a line in the San Pedro district [of Los Angeles] that stretched for 13 mile..."e;Clearly, the majority would rather have gainful employment at a living wage and live a life of dignity and integrity. Furthermore apart from the simple need to earn a living, productive employment is an indispensable part of the psychological makeup of human beings. Simply put, people want to feel useful. Prolonged joblessness is a serious threat to a person's self-esteem and destroying that self-esteem has appalling consequences. The ugly truth is that the system under which we live will not or cannot provide jobs for those who need them. The business class is simply not interested in full employment because mass unemployment provides them with many benefits. Among those benefits: a large pool of unemployed workers drives down the wages employers have to pay.
The book The Antichrist Revealed in Revelation 12 has been written as a teaching syllabus to inform mankind about a certain spirit being enemy. This spirit being enemy has caused catastrophic events upon the earth and mankind for eons. The history of this spirit being enemy is written in the book called the Bible. Most people think of the Bible as a fairy tale, but it is the accurate account of all spirit beings in the universe. God, the angels, and man are all spirit beings. God the Creator, created the angels and man in His spirit image. In the beginning, the God of heaven created the heaven and the earth, with all their spirit beings. Lucifer is a created being who lived in heaven as an archangel. Scripture passages of the bible reveal that the angel Lucifer, a servant of the God of heaven, was assigned as a covering for the spirit beings of mankind upon the earth. During the course of his duty upon the earth, Lucifer desired a lifestyle outside the realm of the kingdom of God for himself and fulfilled it by way of trafficking. Trafficking became the sin of Lucifer's downfall from the status of an angel created perfectly in his ways by God, to an angel full of iniquity, rebellion, and violence, which lead to his outcast from heaven to the earth. Lucifer uses his state of iniquity, rebellion and violence to wreak havoc upon mankind with the intent to annihilate the man from the face of the earth by any means possible. The God of heaven has revealed Lucifer to be the great dragon, the serpent called the Devil, and Satan. Satan means adversary, or enemy. Lucifer made himself an enemy to his Creator, the God of heaven. During the short time that the God of heaven has given the man to redeem himself through His Christ, Lucifer aka Satan will take this opportunity to deceive the whole world. Man must redeem himself from Lucifer, because Lucifer usurped control over the earth and Adam's posterity in the garden of Eden to cause his iniquity, rebellion and violence to prosper through the man. The creation of man began in Iraq, in the garden of Eden (Genesis 2:7-14). Lucifer rules the earth and man from the invisible spirit realm and has set up his spiritual headquarters over the Media-Persian nations (Isaiah 14:13-14, Psalm 48:2). Lucifer aka Satan, the destroyer in the kingdom of God, is the Savior of mankind, and the man of God. Lucifer will bring upon the earth his fourth catastrophe, the tribulation war of the seals, that will be certainly located in the Media-Persian nations. Lucifer will be fighting against the eviction from the earth realm and using men as arsenals of warfare for their own destruction. The stage for the tribulation war is being set imminently. This war will bring destruction and desolation to all nations upon the earth. The events of this catastrophe have been outlined from beginning to end in the scriptures. Lucifer has been sentenced in the past as the destroyer of the earth and mankind by the God of heaven for his iniquities, rebellions and violence. The book "e;The Antichrist Revealed in Revelation 12"e; puts this generation of the world in the know about their foretold present and future upon the earth. The prophecies of God, or foretold present and future upon the earth. The prophecies of God, or foretold messages of God were sent to mankind through the prophets, to reveal the endtime for all nations.
