Never Alone is the story about a young boy who escapes from Soviet occupied East Germany in 1950. At age 16, undernourished and exhaustedfrom political indoctrination, he made a bold attempt to escape across the heavily fortified border to West Germany. He knew that he could not make it on his own-he knew that he could always rely on help coming from above, as he had throughout his young life. All the buildings surrounding this small Lutheran church were completely leveled. The church had only minor damage and was renovated after the war. Harold Alston was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended public schools and graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in banking and finance.
