"A Journey Through Poetry" is about life and living. Life is what is happening to you and around you and living is the way in which you think about it, feel about it and react to it.This daily interaction is what I have tried to bring forth. I have tried to bring things back to the self, back to our thoughts, our emotions, and our actions, whilst still acknowledging the world as it is without any whitewashing. I would like to hope that what my poems offer the reader is perspective. Another viewpoint from which to sit back, look at life and see all of life, not separate from you and me but one with everything and everyone. I have tried to keep a hand outstretched so that the reader might know and feel that they are never alone in anything they are going through, and transcendence is always within their grasp. I hope you are taken on a journey, that opens your thoughts, reveals your emotions and assists your actions.
ROCK GARDEN IN CHANDIGARH - A Critical Evaluation of the Work of Nek Chand is original research thesis for which its author SS Bhatti was conferred the degree of Master of Architecture [M. Arch.] in 1983 by The University of Queensland, Australia. As one of the three examiners had succinctly observed "The book is valuable one which records and analyses the work of a great, courageous and enormously energetic artist. Mr Bhatti has recorded his painstaking examination of Nek Chand's creation, the Rock Garden in Chandigarh". It is a definitive treatise on what is now called "Outsider Art", so much so that articles based on it and published internationally by the distinguished scholar eventually made Chandigarh's Rock Garden world-famous and its creator Nek Chand a global celebrity. For its sheer thoroughness, insightful analysis, perceptive synthesis, and pragmatic comprehensiveness this book is the first one of its kind, and provides enormously delightful and profoundly enriching reading. It embodies what, according to another examiner, is "A positive reaction to a book that has been written with a thoroughness that makes it a most valuable record and commentary on an exceptional work of art." It would be wrong to regard the relevance of this (pioneer) work as being confined to the field of architecture and landscape architecture. It has something to say to urban and social planners as well as to artists of all kinds. The major thrust (of investigation) is in the objective recording, and this is both a valuable task and one performed with great care and comprehensiveness by the researcher.

I was the numero-uno in everything means everything that my hands lay upon in any field. Life was peaceful yet really magnetizing but voila, due to a (brainy) clotting mechanism, everything was scattered. From childhood till date, life has taken umpteen number of turns for me but every point was an adventure... from the faultless riches to the agony of rags. Being a doctor means being only a 'doctor' because a doctor in my case is just a prefix to my name and nothing else. From the introductory speech (Before the Beginning) to the summary (The Epilogue), I shall open from the very start i.e. from my birth till today. I live in a world where the laws of one heroic act after another are just unfitting due to a disability. But I find the real disability in people who can't find joy in life and are bitter and malevolent. If you have a disability... whatever it takes, don't be mean to people. There is a plan and a purpose behind every act, no matter what is it's location, place or time. A genuine friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities.
The inherent desire in most human beings is to live in beautiful environments. This book is a holistic guide to landscaping and beautifying human habitats. The concepts and details presented in the book serve as a useful resource for ideas and techniques for greening and embellishing the entire physical environment including living, working and recreational spaces. The breadth and depth of plants and planting information in the book makes it very relevant for the entire spectrum of plant lovers, from amateurs to landscaping experts. The book is especially valuable for professionals who are responsible for creating good habitats for all people. It is an excellent reference book for all kinds of landscape materials - one that every ardent gardener and professional must own.

"MODERN REGIONALISM: The architecture of Sarbjit Bahga" is a monograph on the selected works of Indian architect Sarbjit Bahga. He has more than three-and-a-half decades of practical experience in designing of various types of buildings, complexes and large campuses. His completed works include an eclectic and impressive range of administrative, recreational, educational, medical, residential, commercial and agricultural buildings. His building designs are innovative and responsive to function, climate and materials. He is a staunch modernist and an ardent, yet not blind, admirer of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Louis Kahn.He is three-time recipient of the World Architecture Community Awards. His name has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for designing the "longest covered concrete corridor" in Vidya Sagar Institute of Mental Health, Amritsar. The main focus of this book is to present a few selected works of the architect which portray his prolific approach to the designs of the diverse range of building types. Of more than 200 projects he has designed, only 54 have been included in this treatise. These projects have been subdivided into seven categories i.e., Office Buildings, Recreational Buildings, Educational Buildings, Healthcare Buildings, Residential Buildings, Public Infrastructure, and Agricultural Buildings. These projects cover a vast range of scale from a tiny house and office building to sprawling campuses. Irrespective of their scale, these projects portray the accumulated design philosophy of the architect which has been elaborated in detail in the second chapter, "About the Architect".The first chapter of the book titled, "Metamorphosis of Architecture in Post-Independent India" dwells on the transition, development and transformation of modern Indian architecture since 1947. The projects included in the next seven chapters have been explained both objectively and subjectively, and well-illustrated with photographs and drawings which are uniformly drawn in a minimalist manner. The last chapter titled "Biography", is a brief description of the architect's life, works, achievements, awards, honours, and publications. The book is authored by Supreet Singh Bahga, a Doctorate from Stanford University, USA, and Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.Christopher Charles Benninger, a renowned American-Indian architect/planner, and allumnus of MIT, and Harvard University, USA, has written the foreword essay, "In Search of an Indian Architecture: Modern Regionalism." The book will be of immense value to the architects, urban designers, planners, engineers and the students of these disciplines. Apart from this, it will act as an important link between the past and future developments in the profession of architecture in the Indian context. Future historians will find a lot of valuable content in this compilation. It is an earnest attempt to keep the beacon of architecture glowing in the minds of the generations to come.
