This fictional short story is intended to incite all who read it to consider expanding their intellect to manifest their calling and become the unlimited spiritual beings we are meant to be. The author uses Johnny, later Brother John, as the main character to illustrate the basic spiritual virtues that we must embrace to develop our God-given talents and propensity to achieve greatness in our calling. In his own development, teaching and counselling of others, Brother John consistently provides encouraging exemplars and assertions for the reader to take up and begin their journey to higher consciousness. The journey is a life-long process of doing our best in our tasks and being disciplined in our efforts to expand our intellect by transcending our ego's fallacies and delusions. Throughout the story, Brother John provides abundant lines of reasoning, guidelines, and authentications of the advanced intellectual outcomes that all who adhere to the recommended practices achieve. "Religious" manic episodes, bouts with depression, in and out of hospitals, medication, lots of medication, several different psychiatrists and counselors, expensive supplements-that was my life for over twenty years. But God has granted relief now for over twenty years. I still struggle, mostly with insomnia, in the form of being unable to fall asleep. And now I can tell if I'm getting manic and I can "put on the brakes." My support system has been incredible over the years. It is my hope and prayer that my story can offer hope to others with a psychiatric label. Luann lives in Crete, IL, with her husband, Tim, and young son, Jacob. They have two married children: a son in FL, and a daughter in WI, and they enjoy their eight grandchildren immensely. Luann teaches private band lessons to woodwinds in 4th through 8th grade, she has a few piano students at home and plays keyboard or organ for church occasionally. Her music bag says, "God gives me the gift of music. My gift to Him is to share it with all my heart."
"But once you receive a commission from Jesus Christ, the memory of what God asks of you will always be there to prod you on to do His will. You will no longer be able to work for Him on the basis of common sense." Oswald Chambers "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun." Psalm 37:5-6 NIV
Life is a series of transitions. From child, to teen, to adult. From newlywed, to parent, to grandparent. From apprentice, to laborer, to retirement. In these scenarios, knowing the inevitability of change we make preparation. The ministry should be no different. Should the return of Christ tarry, every church will ultimately have a different pastor than the one who now leads the flock. Some of those changes will occur because of calling, some because of health, some because of death, and others will change because of sin. Regardless of the cause behind the change, every church and pastor should prepare for that day. Next: A Manual for Pastoral Transitions is an invaluable resource for making those preparations. Written by a man who has experienced such transitions as a child in the home of a pastor, as well as being in the position of pastor himself, this book is filled with practical and helpful insights for navigating the troubling waters of change. With chapters for the departing pastor, the pastoral candidate, the successor in waiting, and the pulpit committee, this book helps provide a roadmap through every facet of transition. While you may not agree with every opinion expressed by the author, there is more than enough practical advice to make this book an essential part of every preacher's library and a valuable tool for every deacon board and pulpit committee. - Craig Burcham, Chairman of the Bible Department Golden State Baptist College, Santa Clara, California
Phoenix residents Bill and Bev Johnstone inherited a small sawmill in western Washington. Even before they took it over, they were warned to close it down. As they ignored the threat and moved to Littlerock, Washington, the threats worsened, and people lost their lives. The Johnstones and their kids learned a lot about logging and more about how to protect themselves from a large and evil organization that was out to stop all the gyppo loggers. With God's guidance and the help of their family they were able to finally find peace. I have a host of relatives in the logging business in the northwest. I grew up where trees were plentiful. I am now older and those places and things are only memories, but they live in my book.

Many books and papers have been written on the mysteries of the Bible. Some of the topics cover Bible history, theology, and trivia under the umbrella of a mystery defined by the writer not by God. Other writings cover the mysteries as stated by the apostles Paul and John, but offer only cursory context and explanation. Few if any provide total scriptural context with background, intended audience, and how the mysteries culminate to finality. Peter warned of looking at prophecy in isolation when he stated in 2 Peter 1:20, "This first knowing, that any prophecy of scripture of its own interpretation is not." This book looks at each mystery as defined by the Holy Spirit as, first, being a mystery. Second, each mystery is examined by looking at the Biblical application and timing from beginning to end as the mystery will be made manifest to more than the believer. Finally, the mysteries are discussed in the logical order of their revelation and brought to a conclusion by the last mystery before the eternal state. The last mystery "The mystery of God should be finished" (Revelation 10:7), brings the wisdom of God into full view for the believer who desires to be a good steward of God's word. As the PI, grief stricken by the death of his client, digs into the case, he becomes overwhelmed by the enormity of the mysterious organization known only as The Group. Will they be able to save the two latest victims, known as Seekers, in this vast conspiracy, before it's too late? The stakes become higher and higher as the hunters become the hunted. Nothing short of divine intervention will ensure a victory. As Rumi once said, "What you seek is seeking you." Rick Combs is an ordained minister, full time security officer, and part time customer service representative who resides in London, KY, with his wife, Berniece, who is a registered nurse. Naomi is the youngest of the nine Kinney children to Robert and Alfreda Kinney, and growing up in the 60s they had a truly idyllic life, living in the small predominantly Black community of Evanston in mid-town Cincinnati, Ohio. King Records was only two blocks from her childhood home, and this was the place her father found solace in singing and occasionally recording in the same historic place as did many great musicians such as James Brown and Bootsy Collins. But her father's troubled situation and the challenges of this era in America caused many constraints for this large Catholic family. However, with the support of family and friends, having developed a strong loving bond among themselves, and by receiving lots of love from their faith community, they survived many difficulties together. This is Naomi's ("the baby's") glimpse into their past and the history of their hometown (Cincinnati, Ohio), highlighting some of their treasured happy memories, the tragedies that occurred among them influenced by the society at the time, and yet how they each found their missions through it all. They are indeed the "Kids of King".
The book is designed to show some of the wonders that are in heaven waiting for us through the Father's love. Ruth Robbins grew up the oldest of eight children in Wisconsin. She has always had a love of books, especially the Bible. When she was offered the opportunity to pursue a doctorate in First Century Faith, she completed it in one year. Ruth's hobbies include music, painting, and making beaded jewelry. These were not enough. They didn't seem to reach many people. The Gospel must be preached by whatever means. Books often help. In 2012 her dad died, and during the month after his death, a working title came to mind for a first draft of her book, Young Jaden's Adventures in Heaven, which is her first novel. Ruth currently lives where she grew up, with two family members, and near other family members, in Wisconsin.

This book takes the reader on a whirlwind tour through biblical and world history in an attempt to discover the foundations and primary characters involved in the most incredible deception ever perpetrated on mankind. The challenge of collecting all the clues cloaked in the mists of time and properly relating them to our modern times makes for an exciting and enlightening journey. The faithful reader may be challenged by the cataclysmic conclusion. Although I am a native Florida "cracker", my genetics originated in LA (lower Alabama). After a deep spiritual experience in my teen years, I was called to serve in the Kingdom of God. That service included deaconship, worship leader and church elder in two churches in the greater Orlando area. I am married to my wonderful wife of 58 years, Alice. We have three children and six grandchildren. I enjoy gardening, fishing and hunting. Current events demanded I somehow share truth, light and hope with my fellow man as the world spirals, seemingly, out of control. Since I have never written anything more than a 500-page school report, I believe the Holy Spirit has inspired and empowered me to write this timely piece.

Alevi Campfires are the personal reflections of John "Jack" Sorensen and his almost twenty years spent living in the Anti-Taurus Mountain range along Turkey's southern border with Syria. Beginning where Volume I leaves off, with John having matured as a frontier missionary seeking to establish a spiritual community in a city once known as the "place where Christians were first called Christian," but long abandoned to the dust of the past, this second volume covers the years 2005 to 2016, and details John and his family's experiences among the Arabic-speaking Syrian people group called Alevi, or "House of Ali." It is rich in insight into the religious, social and cultural beliefs of this fascinating sect of islam, and provides many glimpses into the faithfulness of the One who had led them there. The genuine warmth of the Alevis they knew and came to love stands in stark contrast to the harshness and nationalism of a police force bent on seeing them leave and the honesty and humility with which John relates these two contrasts leaves no doubt as to who it is he came to serve. His family's experiences there, from 9/11 and its aftermath, the brutal murder of three of their colleagues in 2007 to the unbelievable and tragic influx of refugees from Syria's civil war are filled with hope, heartache and compassion, and will leave a lasting impression upon you. John "Jack" Sorensen was born in the far north woods of Upper Michigan, on a peninsula that juts out like a long bony finger from the southern shores of Lake Superior. A second-generation American by birth, Jack grew up listening to Finnish and Norwegian being spoken around him all day. Though he never really took a liking to school or more formal gatherings the largely unpopulated, unsettled and wild surroundings of the "Copper Country," as people there called their beloved homeland, created in Jack a love for frontier settings that, although buried for some time, never died out.
Have you ever felt a deep yearning on the inside, gently tugging at your heart? It feels like something is missing. Come, take another look with me at the shepherd's psalm in "The Heart of My Shepherd." See how the Lord gently leads, protects and genuinely loves you. Only He can fulfill that yearning, just like a shepherd cares for his sheep. The Lord is loving and a gentlemen and will not force Himself into our lives. He wants us to make the choice and choose to serve and make Him our shepherd. Carolyn Savage was born in North Carolina and relocated to Norristown, Pennsylvania at around eight years old. Sometimes in life it seems like you are going through situations all alone and no one will ever understand. I want you to know that you are never alone, no matter the circumstances. God never leaves His children, nor does He forsake them. The pages of this book depict the journey that I have traveled from my childhood to this present day. On my journey there have been some ups and downs; some rough roads, hills, and valleys, some breakups, and some loss. But God has brought me through it all, and He continues to walk with me. I pray that this book will be a blessing to anyone who turns the pages. I, Felecia Powell was born in Houston, Tx in 1965. I am a widow and mother of three children. Our lives are carved by challenges that have the ability to hold us for extended seasons. Any form of prolonged captivity will often alter, if not permanently derail a purposed path. Our best life finds itself diminished, or hanging on the edge of hope and faith, with no true resolve. We are held back by chains which can be so impermeable, they appear normal. Normal yet catastrophic. Within these pages we identify these shackles. Our purpose and destiny remains a dream, until we do the hard work of self-exploration, that transforms us to be able to cultivate a platform for successful living. These chapters are captivating and relatable, and while they may have been stories we've encountered, a case discovery approach to them produces new patterns of strongholds. Delilah's Lap is a place and position we all put ourselves in when we go against the will of God. Many times we end up in the hands of the enemy and he does everything he can to break us. As horrible as that can be there is a bright side to Delilah's Lap. Many times the pain and hardship of Delilah's Lap is the one and only thing that turns us back to God.
