Bag om All The Things I Long For...But Will Never Have
After he finished writing Lessons Learned, Tom Collins continued writing based on the same themes and subjects he explored in that book. Once he reached a stopping point he realized that he had more poems to add to the story, so he decided to refer to the additional poems as the "deluxe poems." In the deluxe collection he continues the story right where it left off and offers up his longest and perhaps grandest poem to date "All The Things I Long For" along with more poems that take on the themes of heartbreak, loss, addiction, and mental health. This time however, there's hints of sarcasm, anger, and even hope that prior to this book were not seen as often. There are also several callbacks to all of Tom's previous books sprinkled throughout, (including the final poem which is a direct continuation of his final poem in World of Broken Dreams.) If Lessons Learned was Tom at his best, the deluxe poems just elevate that point and drive it home.
