Cayuga County was formed in 1799 and named after the Cayuga Indians. Auburn, once a small village, was incorporated as a city in 1848. History abounds throughout the area and Auburn is often referred to as "History's Home Town." Both the county and city have grown since these early times and both have succeeded from the hard work of the men and women who resided here in those early years and those who continue to live here.
