The eccentric English gentleman Phileas Fogg is exceedingly strict about punctuality and a whist gambler known throughout London. With other members of the Reform Club, he bets half his fortune - 20,000 pounds sterling - that he will be able to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. He sets off that very evening - which seems downright hectic, considering that the Bank of England is being robbed that very day. Coincidence?
