Demoniality

Demoniality is a controversial book written by Ludovico Maria Sinistrari, a Franciscan friar and theologian, in the 17th century. The book deals with the topic of demonology and sexual relations between humans and demons, which was considered taboo at the time. Sinistrari argues that demons can take on physical forms and engage in sexual intercourse with humans, resulting in the birth of demonic offspring. He also discusses the various ways in which demons can seduce and possess humans, including through dreams and other forms of spiritual manipulation. The book is divided into three parts: the first part provides an overview of demonology, the second part discusses the nature of demonic possession and exorcism, and the third part deals specifically with demoniality. The thesis which Sinistrari sets forth may be partially explained thus: there are in existence on earth rational creatures besides man, endowed like him with a body and a soul and are capable of being saved or being lost.
