Dieses Buch ist eine satirische Komodie uber die soziale Hierarchie im deutschen Kaiserreich. Der Autor portratiert einen Aufsteiger aus dem Burgerlichen Milieu, der versucht, sich in der aristokratischen Gesellschaft zu etablieren. Dabei gerat er in groteske Situationen und entlarvt die Phrasen und Eitelkeiten seiner Mitmenschen. Die Komodie ist aber auch eine scharfe Kritik an den Konventionen und Vorurteilen der Zeit
