Discoveries of the World

The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This book, published in 1862, contains Galvano's sixteenth-century Portuguese text and Hakluyt's own 1601 English translation. It traces the history of exploration 'since the time of the Flood' until 1555.
