Along the way, he encounters various characters, both real and imaginary, and becomes embroiled in a series of comical and often absurd situations. The novel is a satire of the romanticized ideals of chivalry and is considered one of the greatest works of Spanish literature. This edition of the book includes an introduction by Harvard professor William Allan Neilson and illustrations by Gustave Dor.1909. Edited by Charles W. Eliot.
