Farmers at the Crossroads

A brief biographical introduction gives Ezra Benson's background, first as a Mormon missionary and clergyman before he entered the political arena as Secretary of Agriculture. He is a man of faith, particularly in the individual farmer, that left to his own natural ability he will prosper. He is opposed to too much government aid to farmers and cites agricultural scripture to prove his point. This is definitely a step by step study of his arguments, supported by facts and figures, and he makes out a convincing case. The book - while it comes shortly before election- is not a campaign document. It is a courageous presentation of the program of the Department of Agriculture, in very personal terms of the beliefs of its Secretary.
