Fictions of Femininity

This study explores women writers and gender portrayals at the Japanese Heian court and Heian memoirists creations of themselves in four texts: "Kagero Nikki", "Makura No Soshi", "Sarashina Nikki, and "Sanuki No Suke Nikki".
