Que la humanidad se salvó de la extinción porque un hombre y una mujer del pueblo tamanaco que sobrevivieron al tsunami que cubrió al planeta entero arrojaron a las aguas el fruto de la palma de moriche, y de sus semillas "salieron los hombres y mujeres que actualmente pueblan la tierra". Que un arriero llamado Hipólito Blanco llevó a Caracas "una estaca prendida del célebre Samán de Güere" como contribución a la construcción del templo de la Santísima Trinidad. Que la práctica favorita de Suazola era el desorejamiento de los pacíficos moradores de un pueblo: "sentar en el banquillo víctima tras víctima, hasta que despareciera la última". Que es mucho el asombro que la historia puede causar queda en evidencia en este libro, que explora detalles y anécdotas relegados por los grandes tratados y que ayudan a armar una visión más humana y global de este relato. Como lo afirmó en su momento el propio Arístides Rojas.
