The strongest person in the history of humanity happens to be a fourteen-year-old Filipina in South San Francisco, California, and her name is Imelda Corazon SantaMaria. This is the story of a girl who wants to be a woman, a woman who loves, a woman who loves a young man named Rogelio. Rogelio has a problem though: testicular cancer. To make matters worse, Rogelio's mother has recently converted from Catholicism to become a Jehova's Witness and forbids modern medical treatment, insisting on prayer instead. What does Rogelio want? Just a girl he can trust. What does Imelda want in return? Rogelio's love, oh, and to no longer be a virgin on the first day of high school, six days after the opening of the story. Did I mention the abortion in chapter two, the stabbing in chapter four, the abduction (sort of) in chapter seven, the three-car pile-up in chapter nine, the psychiatric ward in chapter eleven, or whether or not Imelda gets her man in the end?

Off to work again, as usual. I wish it would rain and rain and rain so I could get back in a car and off that damn horse.

Honey Boy Golden is a teenage trumpet prodigy who wants to meet God, so he melts blues, waltzes, military marches, gospel, and African drum music together to invent jazz, right around 1900 it was. Along the way he falls in love with a young beauty and then finds his long lost father up in Natchez, Mississippi. His father hears him play and urges Honey Boy to return to his New Orleans home and lead a band in the Independence Day Parade.

The War on Terror has only exacerbated the state violence and spread terrorism all over the globe, creating terrorists where none had previously existed. The state then cites the new terrorists as cause for more military assaults in foreign lands, causing desperation that is fertile territory for terrorist response, thus continuing a cycle of perpetual terrorism and war-official state terrorism. Meanwhile, back in the United States, the government continues to eviscerate constitutional freedoms in the name of national security; the freedom of the press or freedom from unwarranted searches mean little in the age of omnipresent state surveillance and judges recommended by such dark and authoritarian organizations as the Federalist Society, funded by authoritarian corporate power brokers.
