Somewhat less than a hundred years ago a party of travelers might have been seen crossing over the Simplon Road, en route for Italy. They had been detained at Brieg by reports that the road was impassable; and, as it was the month of March, the prospect of snow and storms and avalanches was sufficient to make them hesitate. At length the road had been reopened, and they were informed that the journey might be made on sleds.

Armchair fiction presents extra-large paperback editions of the best in classic science fiction novels. James De Mille's "A Strange Manuscript found in a Copper Cylinder" is the fifth installment of our "Lost World-Lost Race Classics" series. Four bored men, basking away on their yacht, discover a strange manuscript inside a metal cylinder. The manuscript contains the details of one of the most fantastic adventures ever put down on paper. It is the story of Adam More, a British sailor marooned in the wilds of Antarctica. There he discovers a mysterious subterranean tunnel that leads him into an incredible world inhabited by prehistoric beasts and a lost race of death-worshippers. It is one of the most amazing tales you will ever read. The Living Link is a science fiction novel written by James De Mille. The book is set in a dystopian future where the world is divided into two factions: the ruling class who have access to advanced technology and the common people who live in poverty. The story follows the journey of a young man named Frank who is part of the common people and dreams of a better life. One day, he discovers a mysterious device called the ""Living Link"" which allows him to communicate with a parallel world. Through this link, Frank meets another version of himself who is part of the ruling class and has access to advanced technology. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to overthrow the ruling class and bring equality to the world. The Living Link is a thrilling tale of adventure, friendship, and the power of technology to bridge the gap between different worlds.Again, as to the writing in blood, a vigorous effort was made to show that this was a conspiracy against an innocent man. It was argued that Mr. Henderson did not write it at all; and efforts were made to prove that the wound in his head must have caused instantaneous death. He himself, therefore, could not have written it, but it must have been the work of some one who was plotting against Dalton, or who was eager to divert suspicion from himself. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Mr. Moses V. Sprole had passed the greater part of his life in his native village, and being anxious to see the world, resolved upon a tour in Europe. As he did not care to go alone, he offered to take with him his four nephews, who were great favorites with their bachelor uncle, and his chief associates. This offer met with an eager response from the boys, and a willing assent from their parents, who fully believed that a tour of this description would be of immense benefit to them. This brief explanation will serve to account for the appearance of Uncle Moses in Naples, where he landed on a mellow day in February, en route for Switzerland, bowed down with the responsibility of several heavy trunks, and the still heavier responsibility of four fine lumps of boys, of whose troubles, trials, tribulations, and manifold adventures, he seemed, on the present occasion, to have a mournful presentiment.
