Fra Diavolo or The Inn of Terracina is a comic opera in three acts written by the French composer Daniel Francois Esprit Auber. The opera was first performed in 1830 and the libretto was written by Eugene Scribe. The story is set in Italy during the early 19th century and follows the adventures of a bandit named Fra Diavolo who disguises himself as a marquis in order to rob wealthy tourists. The plot revolves around a group of English tourists who arrive at the Inn of Terracina and are targeted by Fra Diavolo. The opera is known for its lively and catchy music, including the famous aria ""Ah! Mes Amis, Quel Jour de Fete!"" which features nine high C's.
