Bag om freebird
We often find ourselves feeling trapped, in chains with no place to escape. However, once we realize the cage is all in our head - that we hold the key to everything our heart desires - suddenly, we are no longer prisoners of our own mind and reality. After you break through the cage - overcome the doubt, fear and anxiety that have prevented you from experiencing life fully - you will soon discover that freedom is not as far as you thought. In fact, freedom lived within you the whole time. freebird dances through topics from relationships, the passing of time, self-love, self-judgment, the image myth, trust, betrayal, liberation, and ultimately freedom. The poetry book culminates with the poem titled "freebird." The "freebird" is one who sees through the human illusion and casts off the delusions of ego, societal expectation, and self-criticism. It does all this to finally be able to fly.ReviewsHow do I begin to explain how much I enjoyed this book. It is no secret that contemporary poetry isn't my cup of tea. More often than not, I find it quite hard to hit the mark in just a couple of sentences, but this book really stood out to me. It's hard to explain, but "freebird" feels almost biographical to me. All throughout the book, I was thinking "Oh my god, this is totally me" or "I have felt this exact same way". A very huge portion of the poems hit really close to home, and I found myself highlighting and saving my favorite poems.-Jamesvk on AmazonThe writing style of "freebird" is straightforward, sincere, and refreshing. The poems are completely free of irony, snark, cynicism, pop culture references, and all of the other affectations that have plagued 21st century writing. There is no political message, overt or veiled, that I could detect; "freebird" is not about the failings of society, but rather about the human condition.-J. M.
