Gianni Schicchi (1918)

Gianni Schicchi is an opera composed by Giacomo Puccini in 1918. The story is based on an episode from Dante's Inferno and follows the wealthy Donati family as they try to alter the will of their deceased relative, Buoso Donati, in order to gain his inheritance. In order to do so, they enlist the help of the cunning and resourceful Gianni Schicchi, who agrees to assist them on the condition that he will receive a portion of the inheritance. Schicchi comes up with a clever plan to impersonate Buoso and dictate a new will, but things quickly spiral out of control and the family members find themselves in a series of comical and disastrous situations.
