Grammatical Gender in Maltese

Native speakers avail themselves of a number of criteria and systems for gender assignment in their language. But how do they put these strategies to work and how do they deploy their knowledge of nominal gender in relation to other grammatical categories in speech and writing? This work investigates how grammatical gender functions in Maltese and how native speakers of this language classify nouns by assigning to them a particular gender.
