Interactive Notebook: The Civil War

Interactive Notebook: The Civil War is one of Mark Twain Media's new American History Series of interactive notebooks. It provides students in grades 5 through 8 with opportunities to explore the significant events and people that make up American history. The book is designed to allow students to become active participants in their own learning. The instructions given in the book lay out an easy-to-follow plan for setting up, creating, and maintaining the interactive notebook. Once completed, the notebook becomes a great resource for reviewing and studying for tests. The 19 lessons contained in Interactive Notebook: The Civil War cover five units of study: Road to War, Secession, First Part of the Civil War, Second Park of the Civil War, and Victory for the North. This interactive approach to diagraming history concepts gives students many opportunities to utilize models and demonstrate their knowledge through artistic creation, labeling, and verbal explanation.
