David E. Nye received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, and is professor of American studies at The University of Southern Denmark, Odense. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard, MIT, Notre Dame, Leeds, Warwick, and Cambridge. He is the editor of four books and the author of ten books, most recently, Technology Matters: Questions to Live With (MIT Press). He served on the board of the Danish-American Fulbright Commission for ten years, and he has been both a commentator on and a consultant to the major Danish television stations. In 2005, Professor Nye received the Leonardo da Vinci medal for his scholarly achievements.
