Bag om It Wasn't All Bad!
I guess that this has happened before but I wrote the last sentence of the book first. It was a powerful statement that I just had to make. I then started my story from the beginning but was always motivated by the desire to reach the conclusion so that I could type in the final sentence for real....and I did! Some stories don't need to be told and mine is probably one of them. My Police career was neither significant nor important. Many police officers have done far greater things than I. Their stories make mine pale into insignificance. I did however stick with it for 37 years and that should count for something. I was proud of some of the things I achieved particularly in the role of Prosecutor. Readers will note that very few participants are actually named unless they are celebrities or it would be rude not to. I simply don't want the drama of upsetting someone or forgetting others. I'm also mindful that in some instances I'm protecting what may be perceived as misdeeds, statute of limitations and all. I'm also confident that those of you who were around at the time will have little difficulty in putting the pieces together. You can be assured that each of the stories are true. Some are slightly embellished however for effect but not so as to destroy factual integrity.I really enjoyed my time with New Zealand Police. It's a pity that another government department left a sour taste at the end. No ongoing resentment...yeah right! That being said, come with me now on this mildly interesting adventure, after all....IT WASN'T ALL BAD!This is the preface to the tale of my Police career. It commenced with uniquely historical events at the Police College and then developed over the years to my niche as a prosecutor. I record quite a number of amusing and sometimes tragic tales. There is an ongoing royal theme culminating with meet and greets with Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales. To top it off, it ends with a shafting by another government department. What isn't there to like? I've even gone ahead and counted them. There are over 120 separate Police stories, yarns and quips. Not to mention the odd musing!
