Karamania

Published in 1817 by naval officer and hydrographer Francis Beaufort (1774-1857), this work provided the first modern survey of the southern coast of Turkey, together with descriptions of its classical sites. An instant success with experts and laypeople, it shed much light on an underexplored region.
