This work tells the story of the lives of church leaders from the days of the successors of the Apostles to the present time which was originally told by European writers from the German. It is now translated into English and edited with added lives by American authors. Found within are popular, yet scholarly, life stories of Christian witnesses. The aim of which was to present to Christians, for their own edification, the doings of God in the history of his church and the manifestations of his spirit in the witnesses commissioned and enlightened by Him ever since the day of Pentecost.
