Loss and Gain is a novel written by John Henry Newman, a prominent figure in the Oxford Movement and later a Catholic cardinal. The novel follows the story of Charles Reding, a young man who is struggling with his faith and identity as a Catholic in Victorian England. After a series of events, including a failed romance and a crisis of faith, Charles converts to Anglicanism, much to the disappointment of his Catholic friends and family.
