Monographs on the Fossil Lepadidae, Balanidae and Verrucidae

Darwin had worked on barnacles during his student days and on the Beagle voyage. The two studies of fossil barnacles in this volume, originally published in 1851 and 1854, both cemented his reputation as an expert taxonomist and biologist, and provided support for his developing theory of evolution.
