My Antonia

My Antonia is a novel by Willa Cather, first published in 1918. The story is narrated by Jim Burden, who moves from Virginia to Nebraska to live with his grandparents after his parents die. He meets Antonia Shimerda, a young Bohemian immigrant who has also recently moved to Nebraska with her family. Jim and Antonia become close friends, and Jim is fascinated by her strength, independence, and resilience.
