Parliament and the Army 1642-1904

Drawing upon a wide range of historical documents, including letters, biographies and newspaper articles, this study analyses the complex relationship between Parliament and the British army. It describes how the problem of political control of the army has been addressed from the mid-seventeenth to the early twentieth century.
